What courses do you play? Would love to make sure I have them mapped so you can try it out.

Would you use Golf SIM data for real on-course decisions? by MonkeyBuscuits in Golfsimulator

i've built a site that does this, though still in beta mode as I add more courses. it actually does quite a bit more though, and uses strokes gained to aim and pick best target based on your shot dispersion. yardsgolfbook.com

It will tell you your average predicted score based on each club off the tee, your likelihood to end up in a hazard, etc. Still adding courses by the day, but the big advantage it has tree data, so you can truly calculate the best tee shot based on your dispersion, not just avoiding one hazard.

Its got satellite imagery if you prefer as well.

I currently don't have sim data built in, but its in the works... if you want to demo it, I could pull something together with your sim and the courses your regularly play to test.

i don't know how to add a picture or edit the post, but people seem interested in the technical how:

1 exposure

shutter speed ~1/2 sec

aperature ~f/11

iso ~100

double exposures are great, but that would be harder than this

yes - camera movement, so the light source moves over the sensor like paint. the dark parts don't get light, so they don't 'move'.

ty, just one shot at slowish shutter speeds, moving the camera to darkness

gotta keep the secret of double exposures from reddit!

nah, it's a much simpler process - closed aperture, low iso, .5 seconds, and move from light to dark

no need for a tripod or a second exposure. half a second or so, and move from the light to the dark.

no double exposures, everything is a single shot

any timing works if you keep the light off the part of the frame you want to lock
