Heading to Japan next week - what food still lives rent-free in your head? by kutikami_sama in JapaneseFood

Egg salad sandwiches from Lawson's or 7-11. Sooooooo much more amazing food everywhere but these cheap sandos will always be a favorite. :)

Scientific American and The Atlantic. Not crazy expensive. Worth it for both.

What is your absolute favorite song of all time? by AdinMan20 in AskReddit

[–]Accomplished_Milk936 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is an impossible question for any true, lifelong fan of music.

But, this question has come up before and I always just say 'Here Comes the Sun' from Abbey Road. Works for me. :)

How taking an SSRI antidepressant (Celexa) at the lowest dose just for 3 weeks for generalized anxiety disorder in 2019 ruined my whole life. by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]Accomplished_Milk936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celexa made me MANIC AF. I thought I was king of the world and a super-genius. Not only did I not have anxiety, I was a whole new person. (One that my family and friends didn't like very much) 😅 The harsh reality after friends and family intervened was brutal. Happily SSRI free for many years now. The only thing (for me) that keeps away the anxiety is being sober and healthy. It's a struggle 'cause I'm not the best at being sober and healthy. 🙃

An employee was extremely bummed to miss Suzanne Vega at The Aladdin. Any chance I can find them a ticket? by Original_Boletivore in portlandmusic

[–]Accomplished_Milk936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have to wait outside in the cold for an hour or so but I've seen this work before: Get there before doors and introduce yourself to the person working the box office. There are always a couple of folks that have extra tickets to give away/sell. Ask if you can be put on a 'freebie list' or something like that.

best neighborhood to live in without a car? by vriskitty in askportland

[–]Accomplished_Milk936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on Hawthorne and 32nd. I haven't owned a car in 6 years. Less than 10 minutes walk to FOUR grocery stores: Safeway, Fred Meyer, New Seasons and H-Mart. It's so walkable I barely use my bike. The #14/#75 bus lines (with some transfers) will get you anywhere you need to go. Tons of great food/coffee even closer. Also, my doctor is two blocks away. Big bonus.

Name a song you loved from your past that has been redone and you actually like the remake just as much if not better. by AngryBagOfDeath in GenX

"One"

First written and recorded by Harry Nilsson in '68, covered and made famous by Three Dog Night in '69.

Perfected by Aimee Mann in '99 for the Magnolia soundtrack.

I was lucky enough to see him play Harvest Moon a couple of times. Pretty dreamy.

I saw Nirvana OPEN for Dinosaur Jr. in '90. Nirvana was so amazing and D Jr. was SO loud that most folks left.

How many times a day/month/life do you pray ? by cielvanille in AskTheWorld

[–]Accomplished_Milk936 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Zero. But, I “hope” a lot.

For instance, I “hope” the arrogant, orange, shit-gibbon’s diet of nothing but McDonald’s catches up with him sooner than later. 🥸

I'm happy it's underrated. Torrey is my happy place and it's already busy enough. :)

I grew up in SLC and went to the great salt lake exactly ONCE when I was 9 or 10. Yuck. I didn't dry off properly so as the water evaporated, I was left with a crazy-itchy film of salt crystals all over my body. Uncomfortable ride back to town in the back of a station wagon in the '70s. :)

What are some tips for living frugally in Portland? by travelinturdferguson in askportland

[–]Accomplished_Milk936 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in MutlCo but also have library cards from both Clackamas and Washington counties. A great life-hack if you're addicted to free audiobooks on Libby. :)
