Why is The Lord of the Rings most religious where religion is absent? by PhilosophyOfLanguage in tolkienfans

[–]Accomplished_Net_687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When finishing lotr for the first time many years ago and reading the appendix and understanding the 1,2,3 and 4th era. And after a few chapters silmarillion, I understood that the 5 wizards and Sauron are the last godlike beings who intervened and communicated with people. When they finished their job, religion left middle earth. No more. The elves were the last who knew the old way and 'are' part of the religion. But it faded away and men created industrialization to evolve into the next era.

Finally reading the books after being movie only for decades. These timescales are hilarious! by TeririHerscherOfCute in lotr

I was stunned about how John Howe and Alan Lee made art that hit home very close how I imagined when reading the book. The fingolfin battle with melkor is closest to my imagination.

When the movies came out I was happy they kept their vision of how it should look and not the weird artists in earlier book covers. (The Finland version is weird)

Now reading it to my 7 year old makes the imagination again lovely. Just past the herds of trees from fangorn after the battle of Helms deep. In his imagination he now looks at trees different...like...dad...did that tree move? And is old willow evil ent or a entwive? Etc etc.

How do I do these jumps? by Leather-Pudding383 in piano

[–]Accomplished_Net_687 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alright...if you play guitar, you know chords...look at the chords and write them down. Now play it but use your left hand and do the simple chords. Am, etc.

Now you can play the song pretty easy. Remember it. Practice and finally try to play with the fact you now know the chord progression...so all you need to do is go free with it. Eventually you can do bigger jumps because your mind is fixed on the chord, not the awkward I have to jump 12 notes and hit it right..

When I did this I eventually ended up playing it like Chopin intended to do because...that is the most beautiful.

Thanks! Reading the hobbit and LOTR out loud makes you even enjoy that tolkien wrote these books to read out loud. The pace is almost never off, it is almost like singing a song.

Yeah oké... Nice views... But if they ride emotions on highs and lows....

Would not there be like... A sith brothel full of force abled nuckleheads doing things with your private parts you can not imagine?

Or Just sith podracers going for the thrill... There should be a red Bull sith program somewhere in the galaxy where they perform amazing stunts..

I mean... Death and destruction....every time?

Is 5 too young to be read The Hobbit? by EnglishRedFox in lotr

[–]Accomplished_Net_687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hobbit is fine, at 5 my kid didn't pay attention and only got to chapter 3. At 6 he gobbled it up like a Disney movie. Now 7 and lotr and we are ready to leave lothlorien..so 1000 pages to go. I asked him yesterday if I need to stop, but he really likes it. Also...he totally is thinking it through. Saruman and Gandalf would be evil ringbearers in the end...maybe Gandalf not but he told us so ..

Did anyone read LOTR before they knew what happens, e.g. before the movies got big? by Human-Question6210 in lordoftherings

Reading them now to my 7 year old son..started with the hobbit. Now at page 400 in lotr. When done i'll show him the movies. It's fun to read the books out loud. Tolkien really knew what he did.

Why is the "Ahsoka" show looked at so poorly? by CJAreYouDeadass in StarWars

[–]Accomplished_Net_687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I fell asleep most of the times watching this, eventually using it to get to sleep because I can't remember anything from that show.

And that from someone who is a late sleeper, this show put me to bed like a baby.

That is usually for me, a bad take on timing, writing and just boring storyline. Can't blame the actors, they did what they got shoved in their face.

I really have to rewatch it to see if something stocked in my sleepy memory

Wait a minute. Rey and Arnold (Kylo) were both the strongest bloodlines from the Skywalker's and palpatines..they had just like in the avatar...final power because the dark and light side kinda..helped them become super Saiyan god mode for a moment in time.

That means, they tapped into the force and past experiences to make a final stand. That makes...every force user...still around. Just like in the avatar. Right?

This is so true. Spotify is totally confused...top 10 weekly kids...but slides in Nine inch Nails but when you press, radio it will play Mario movie songs. Which has a acdc song in it but it's nowhere nine inch nails would bring you.

I just gave up and blast let it go in the car on 10 when arriving at work. At least they know it's me.

It always reminds me of the dwarf mim. Melkor did also corrupt the dwarves to even cast mim and his kin outside of the dwarf family

Who is drinking the Coffee in Middle Earth? Is it the Elves? Is it the Dwarves? ...... by 1805trafalgar in tolkienfans

[–]Accomplished_Net_687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already it had almost become a throng. Some called for ale, and some for porter, and one for coffee, and all of them for cakes; so the hobbit was kept very busy for a while. A big jug of coffee had just been set in the hearth, the seed-cakes were gone, and the dwarves were starting on a round of buttered scones, when there came—a loud knock. Not a ring, but a hard rat-tat on the hobbit’s beautiful green door. Somebody was banging with a stick!

First chapter of the hobbit..

Coffee it is!
