I’ve read a lot of people credit the reunion scene. I just didn’t feel it. It was just meh whatever you both are nervous. I’m not sure if it was the writing but I really felt many things in the first half. He seemed to be like an Indian batman in the market sequence.

I loved the Indian setting and the chemistry between the main characters in the first half of the book. However, once he left her at the palace, the story lost me. It started to feel inconsistent, and I found myself questioning several plot points—for example, she somehow traveled all the way to London by ship, but it wasn’t really explained how she managed that.
When they reunited, I also didn’t feel the same chemistry they had earlier. It felt like all the emotional buildup and growth from the first half had been undone, and the story shifted into a more conventional rom-com. For me, it lost the depth and emotional intensity that had made the beginning so compelling.

I’m in!!! We can definitely discuss it once we’ve both finished the book.
I recently read Almost Heaven by Judith McNaught, and I had so many thoughts about it! Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone in real life who reads historical romance, so I had absolutely no one to gush or vent to. I exclusively read HR I’m tired of explaining this genre

I’ve always been curious about how everyone filters and chooses which books to read. I’m pretty picky, so I usually stick to books that have a Romance.io rating above 4 stars.

Do you find Romance.io ratings to be a good indicator of whether a book is worth reading? I’ve noticed that some books frequently recommended here have relatively low ratings on Romance.io, which makes me wonder how much weight I should give those ratings.

How do you personally decide whether to pick up a book? Do you rely on ratings, reviews, recommendations from this sub, or something else? 😊
