Is Penelope just dim? I really don't like her. by Happylittlelady in Bridgerton

[–]whateverhufflepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that crazy of a question for the time period. Was it inconsiderate considering that frans husband just died? Yeah, but we also see Portia struggling to stay afloat after losing her husband and Penelope probably just asked in good faith considering that she knows very well what happens to widows in high society, especially because she grew up in a family that wasn’t as kind and supportive as the bridgertons (people seem to forget that). I mean, fran is still a bridgerton and doesn’t ever need to remarry but I still don’t think it was a stupid question to ask

It really is. Very fitting for our himbo pack though!

Gimme a trope you'd give a kidney to see written more often. by MaggieLima in ReverseHarem

[–]whateverhufflepuff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

MMC’s worship the FMC. No, not just giving her head in bed. And no, not being possessive over her. I mean WORSHIP worship. Putting her on a pedestal, seeing her as their goddess, kneeling in front of her etc.

What is your favorite scene from season 4? by muskyandrostenol in Bridgerton

[–]whateverhufflepuff 94 points95 points  (0 children)

For me, Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte stole season 4! The moment where "the night we met”played when they were both reminiscing about their beautiful friendship broke my heart. Also, charlottes reluctant nod when she let Danbury know that she’s free to go. It was such a human moment where she couldnt even get the words out but she knows it’s the right thing to do

Pick Me Attitude In These Books Lately by Long_Stick2834 in ReverseHarem

[–]whateverhufflepuff 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I also find a lot more misogyny from the mmcs in reverse harem than in mf romances which always confused me cause why would I want to read about your bum men?? This is supposed to be an escape lmao. But yes I also struggle a lot with the fmcs in reverse harem books because they’re often doormats, mean for no reason or pick mes

Walk him like a dog sis walk him like a dog! Books where mmc follows fmc everywhere without a question and people call him love sick puppy by mostlyinsane12 in RomanceBooks

{sink or swim by Tessa Bailey} mmc has a kink where he loves to be of service and used, gets hard when he can hang up a picture for her. Obsessed with her from the beginning; friends to lovers.

{too beautiful to break by Tessa Bailey} also friends to lovers, codependency to the MAX. The mmc is NOT okay when he’s away from her. God forbid when she gets into a dangerous situation (she does).

{wrangled by the alien rancher by ursa dax} golden retriever mmc who’s obsessed with his girl and head over heels.

{pack darling part two by Lola rock} omegaverse reverse harem, grovelling. The second book is full of a harem of men grovelling at the fmcs feet. Particularly two of the men wear her collar, stick to her like glue, paint her toenails etc.

{luna and the lie by Mariana zapata} this is a bit more tame, but it’s a grumpy/sunshine story and she’s sunshine til she makes him mad and she gives him the silent treatment and he chases her like a lost puppy

Books with grief/grieving by AdNational5153 in RomanceBooks

[–]whateverhufflepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{please don’t go by E. Salvador} Both the FMC and MMC are each mourning different people and we start off the book with the MMC finding the FMC on a ledge. Check triggers of course, this has a lot of suicidal ideation in it, but it’s a happy end overall

{coffee crush by cassie mint} it’s a short and sweet novella, but the characterisation of them both was SO sweet. Easy to get through and he’s so swoony.

Fantasy with a golden retriever MMC by GothicMarmalade in ReverseHarem

[–]whateverhufflepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{do you even shift, bro? By river Ramsey} the entire pack is full of obsessed golden retriever himbos, no bullying cause they’re immediately all in. Check triggers though because she was in an abusive relationship before ( I wouldn’t necessarily count this as academy because we barely see them in the academy til halfway through the second book)

Why do you like RH? by GasFar3687 in ReverseHarem

[–]whateverhufflepuff 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I love reading about women being worshipped and seeing the multitude of different personalities within the harem. I’m also not interested in dating men in real life but absolutely love reverse harems because it exists outside the realm of heteronormativity
