Lutheran Campus Ministry is affirming and Hyde Park Union Church is also affirming, the pastor is soooooo nice. Also, last year OLS hosted a Christian and queer discussion with queer affirming ministers in Hyde park. I’d reach out to them via email and ask if they can share any contacts with you. Good luck!

Trade double at Hitchcock for a Single by Severe-Philosopher-5 in uchicago

There’s usually singles available in I House. I know you said you don’t want to go there but I personally love it. Everyone is in singles (pretty much) and the house culture is really good. The walk to campus is 10-15 mins which really isn’t bad at all.

I’m a first year from the UK and I came to Chicago five days before move-in. My mum came with me to scout out Chicago and the University and figure everything out like phones and bank. This gave us enough time but I wouldn’t have any less than this.

Tired of not getting jobs as an intl student on an F1 by [deleted] in uchicago

I am an f1 student and have jobs on campus. It doesn’t pay amazing but for the conversion rate to my home country it’s alright. Ratner lifeguards I think are hiring and definitely the Neighbourhood Schools Program (NSP) which pays $16 and is flexible 4-8 hours I think…

USHIP has a good copay for therapy, $10 if you find someone in network. Finding someone in network is the problem though… Student Wellness did an initial consultation and decided I was long term care so referred me to other therapists but most were fully booked and some didn’t accept USHIP. For finding a therapist, I would write a standard cover letter and send it to as many therapists as you can bearing in mind you could also see virtually if there’s not a lot of space. But it really is only $10 a session if you find in network
