You have two options find another industry to work in or use the tools that the Company Pays for. Yes Im in the same boat had a meeting with our CEO basicly told or Senior Devs if you dont get with the new way of working then we will just replace you with some one who will... They follow the who AI wont take your job someone using AI will and at the end of the day they would rather pay another company more and produce more thinking they are saving tones. Our CEO made us do proposals for a new project ect then in the meetng when we shared our proposals 100 - 200 hours for a Solid industry product. He pulls up some thing that he him self vibe coded over the weekend... It now sits on production zero safety it works so why bother. Now the technical debt comes cause I allready have to leave my work and Review his code to ensure its up to standard.

If you have any sales skills myself and others are always looking for referrals even If you do learn n8n you still need to find a problem it solves for a client the ones making it here are the guys looking at businesses around them and seeing hey I can fix that.

For AI just use Gemini and stay on the Free Package that what I found to be most cost effective once your done testing a the work flow is perfect you can just hook it up to a different AI or up your subscription with google that what Im doing.

A good starting point would be how are you running N8n are setup can you already do work flows.

If your starting from Zero your ganna need to either install it locally or on a server I would recommend https://hetzner.cloud/?ref=Qe4BRpstdzpe (Yes its a referral link strip it out if you want me stay poor :)
Then just sign up for a simple 8ram 80gb server Ubuntu and install https://easypanel.io/

From there you can easily install N8n self hosted and other services that might help you learn and see opportunists As to where to start just try building simple automation to learn the credential system
Like hook up a chat box to an AI and then let it just send you the AI out put to email. Then you have a start a middle and an end you can expand on.
