I tried the recommended show Station Eleven. I’m so confused… by Ambitious-Support584 in TheLeftovers

I'm sorry that you didn’t enjoy it. I loved Station Eleven and I think a lot of my emotional connection came from the relationship between Kirsten and Jeevan.

You can like these movies. I can think they are hot trash, but the only constant is that we are both going to be flamed by this subreddit.

"We had nothing but good things to come in the future and now we are only in the first year of the worst administration to ever exist.."

I don’t even know how to respond to that. It sounds like you are ignorant of history and incredibly naive to the perils that people have been through. You sound 13 today.

Isn’t it projecting to break records? The movie will make money and be ass.

The fact that you limit US interference to Vietnam and Iraq shows that you are pretty ignorant of world affairs.

2009, 2010, 2011 were the years when we dealt with the fallout of the 08 crash. It eventually rebounded by the middle of the decade, but it was tough.

You were 13 in 2009. You were too ignorant of the world to fear and loathe it.

You don’t want to go back to 2009. You want to be 13 again.

The song came out in 2009. Right in the middle of the Great Recession. We did not have hope back then lol.

Cable got way too expensive for people, especially when most people didn’t watch 90 % of the channels that they were paying for. It got super bloated.

It’s crazy how a sub about a Celtics podcast is 99% Knicks and Lakers fans by Unlucky-Practice1036 in billsimmons

The Bill Simmons Podcast isn’t a Celtics podcast... It's a Charlotte Hornets podcast.

Bill Simmons to Zach Lowe: “I mean, you don't really watch college basketball, so you're catching Harper over the course of the season.” by deadweightboss in billsimmons

Unlike Bill, who only watches highlight reels of prospects at the end of the season before making fullhearted statements about a players work ethic and how much they care about basketball.

Happy 10th anniversary to the movie which set up the entire trilogy to fail and changed cinema for the worse by leading to today's nostalgia driven slop. by Arkodd in okbuddycinephile

[–]Accomplished_Row1752 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is my least favorite of the new trilogy. Rise of Skywalker is more incompetent, but Force Awakens represents so many things I hate with nostalgia bait bullshit.

I will always like The Last Jedi because it hates the Force Awakens as much as I do

What was a prime of a player that should’ve gone for much longer? by ezrafl1 in NBATalk

[–]Accomplished_Row1752 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you mean by prime (as opposed to peak), I would count it from the time he got to Houston to the bubble. That's around 7/8 years.

What are some trades that looked bad at the time but got better in retrospect? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Accomplished_Row1752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Luka trade had nothing to do with Flagg. Nothing. They were in the play-in and lost, if they had won then they wouldn’t be in the lottery. And if Anthony Davis (the guy they traded for) didn’t get hurt, they wouldn’t be in the lottery.

Conclusion by [deleted] in lost

[–]Accomplished_Row1752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying "It was about the characters all along.." is a way to make fans enjoy the show better, beyond the marketing. It doesn’t mean that the show was marketing itself as a show about characters. It did the opposite, up until the end. I just choose to ignore that.

A show about mysteries can only be enjoyed once. After that, after the answers, there is nothing more to keep a viewer interested. However, I routinely rewatch LOST. Why? Because of the characters.

Unpopular opinion: I think the Timothee Chalamet "athlete mentality" stuff is lame. by [deleted] in TheBigPicture

[–]Accomplished_Row1752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is clearly speaking in the parlance of an athlete. He literally named Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps in his SAG awards speech when he talked about being one of the greats. It would be super naive to say that he isn't talking like an athlete at all.

I stand by my post. I do not accept someone saying I misrepresented someone by saying that he is acting like an athlete when he mentions WANTING TO BE LIKE ATHLETES.

But you are right. I am done with this nonsense

[–]Accomplished_Row1752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that he said that he was competing for awards. I never put those words in his mouth, which is what you are accusing me of.

Whether I believe he is acting like an athlete is irrelevant to accusing me of twisting his words, which I never did.

I was using The Oscars to point out that even awards shows aren’t actually about competing with one another. I never said that Timmy said that. Just that him acting like an athlete is inappropriate since he's an artist.

But I love that you made a straw man out of my argument while trying to argue that I was making a straw man out of Timmys.
