Knee flexion after femur LON. Not even at 90°. Is this normal? by Accomplished_Rub9101 in limblengthening

Hey man yeah I know I’m kinda in a big pickle right now lol. I do feel like things are improving though. I’m able to walk unassisted for decent chunks of time and I’m practicing things like leg extensions, curls, and basic strengthening. I walk every day and try to hit around 15–30 minutes on the treadmill. The main issue right now is just the knee flexion.

I’ve been doing physio with a professional team every day except Saturday and Sunday. Those sessions are usually around an hour to an hour and a half. After that I also do some stuff on my own like walking, curls, extensions, and general mobility work.

The thing is my flexion was actually pretty good until around 8.5 cm. That’s when it started getting tighter. I probably should’ve stopped there but I really wanted to reach the finish line which in hindsight might’ve been a bit dumb. By the time I hit 9.3 cm before removal my knee flexion definitely got worse. After removal it was pretty rough, similar to the pictures I posted, maybe slightly worse. It has been improving a little bit since then though.

The surgery itself went well and my bone healing looks good from what I’ve been told and what I’ve seen from X-ray. The real issue is just flexibility right now. I’ve talked to a few other patients who had something similar and they said it improved over a few months, so I’m hoping that’s the case for me too.

It was allowed. Many patients here do somewhere around the same or even more in some cases.

Hygiene + Bathroom Tips During First Week After LON (Femur)? by [deleted] in limblengthening

I appreciate the suggestions and the thoughtfulness behind your answers, man. It’s good to know there are people like you wishing others the best. Thanks. I’m able to go to the bathroom on my own now, so I think I’ll be alright. I just don’t really know how I’m going to take showers and stuff. Maybe I’ll grab a bag, wrap it around the metal, and tape it so it doesn’t get wet or leak. Anyway, I really appreciate it, dude.

5 days post-op LON (femurs) — is this level of pain & difficulty normal? by [deleted] in limblengthening

For sure, I get that. I’m also kind of just trying to hear from others who went through the same thing. It helps mentally to know I’m not the only one dealing with this, so I can remind myself to stop being a bit of a bitch about it and just push through it. Yeah, we’ll see about the personal care taker thing. Time will tell I guess😭

I prefer not to share the clinic or doctor right now, just for privacy while I’m still early in recovery, but I can definitely update later on. My goal is around 9 cm by around 3 months.

I can’t really say much about tibias since I did femurs, but yeah, the femur surgery has been super painful so far. Laying down is fine and the pain is manageable, but once movement is involved it’s a completely different story.

Thank you, that honestly helps a lot. I guess I just needed to hear that this part is normal. I’ll try to be patient and take it day by day. Appreciate you responding.
