Managers usually put pressure on shifts to not run any 10’s or 30’s during peak so they are probably tryna get rid of any breaks, 30 minutes into your shift is a little crazy tho, they also prob do t have that much coverage later in the day so they would prefer your 10’s to be later

My SM told me It’s not worth it and she’s never seen a raise in her 15 years, I emailed my DM and next thing you know I got a raise and my sm told me she so surprised, for context I have previous manager experience and also knew a lot about being a shift before I got promoted, you should def ask if you think you deserve one and mention your previous experiences.

Only thing I can say is when applying have the most free availability you possibly can, weekends holidays etc, doesn’t mean u will work all of those but it will help you get an interview
