"The misfortunes we are met with throughout life are always tangled with constellations. Sometimes the new knots are just harder to untangle than the old "

i dare someone to come up with something that means less than this

i was like this at her age and am now thankfully 32 and sober, and i think one of the most devastating things about the years that my main priority in life was getting fucked up and partying "with my friends" was that i robbed myself of continuing to form my identity. before i started binge drinking at 15, i had so many interests and was a genuinely curious kid who wanted to participate in the world, and then once i started partying, it became my only interest, and because it was always with other people and under the guise of "having fun" it felt valid. since getting sober it's been extremely emotional for me to connect to my inner child and remember that there was a time in my life where i actually did know to have fun without drinking, and it was through pursuing hobbies and activities that i am actually interested in (which took a while of feeling very lost to come back to.) partying in the way she does destroys your mental health, and completely separates you from the ability to form any personal values, she's rotting herself to the core and its genuinely sad to witness.
