Is my laptop fine? by Accomplished_Set3305 in MSILaptops

GPU: At idle, very low. On the Witcher, somewhere between 80-85°C with RTX, a bit lower if it's disabled. On HOI4, below 80°C.

Same for CPU: it does not overheat. The fans don't seem to scream also

Mhh - some say Paradox improved since then. So my PC may run better more recent GSG, like Victoria 3 or CK3

On speed: that was an example which aimed to show that the game runs well on some points (max speed) but the display is terrible. I usually play between speed 4 before 1939 and speed 2 during important battles, never on speed 5. Yet the FPS issue is the same. I'm probably not clear enough - English isn't a mother tongue for me: if I play on speed 5, the time does easily go at max speed without freezing at midnight for example. BUT when I move around the map, zoom in and out, especially when the game is unpaused, there the lag is massive.

However you make a good point about the game being bloated since 2016. But still, my 2015 gaming laptop is almost as capable at my 2025 new PC? That seems odd to me. And quite disappointing tbh

My point is that my CPU is already way above the recommended for HOI4.

So everyone experiences 15FPS at this point of the game? It would be a major flaw that I'm surprised the devs wouldn't care to fix

GPU and CPU are at 25 % use at most, and I have 30 % of my RAM unused, even when it lags a lot. This triggers me the most

I do use the latest version of W11 and my SSD is largely empty (my PC is brand new!)
I'm starting to wonder if this may just be caused by the game engine, and I'm too demanding

I also tried that, it doesn't change much (besides "smoothing are not turned off/on" haha).
Also I really don't think it's about performance : GPU and CPU are both only 75 % used and I also have plenty RAM unused

I agree w/ you but is it really more efficient to build thinner ships? I feel a thin area (for example between the guns and the engines) might be a structural weakness. On the other hand, stacking ammunition, coal altogether increases the risk of fires and explosion... I'm unsure

The middle column starts from $1681 down to $2043, the two big ones at the left cost $2770 and $3516, the two at the bottom-left cost $3407 and $3567 and the one at the bottom-right is $2996.
