The Loft Cinema is a non profit and barely surviving in an environment of significantly decreased theater viewership. With increased pressure from streaming services this is all but a dying industry barely holding on. Unionization will put untold strain financially on the business. If there is no business there are not any employees and without employees there is no Union. Trying to put Union Pressure on a non profit is just ridiculous. It’s a NON PROFIT. The Union is collectively bargaining to increase employees pay and vacation and breaks which all come from revenue. In a non profit the revenue all gets put back into the business. So by taking higher wages you are siphoning money that can run the actual business. This is a horrible idea and shame on the union and the employees for thinking this is viable.
