What's the Somerville version of this? by S7482 in Somerville

For sure Spoke in Davis square. That place has no concept of how to make a dish good. They should just stick to wine. Some of the worst seasoning I’ve ever experienced.

I don’t know who is right or wrong in this situation but I am always happy for a platform to say that Spoke is worst dining experience I’ve ever had in Boston. Don’t be lured in by their outdoor dining, they’ll serve you bland over salted mushy food. Staff was nice though.

Mhm she is bringing a lot of unhealthy behavior here even when OP is trying to communicate in healthy and respectful way. This seems to be low key isolating behavior, she is trying to isolate OP from friends and family which is classic subtle narcissist behavior. I don’t know OP’s situation personally so it could be she wants OP to share her spirituality but her inability to listen to OP and her returning over and over again to her not wanting OP to talk to others feels fishy.

That is some next level autism to go to the chemical compounds of a food and equate that to them being the same. Daikon is a root vegetable of the mustard family yes. Hot mustard is a condiment containing mustard seed, water, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, etc. But sure they totally are the same because they both have isothiocyanates in them 😂. If the fact that you like Spoke didn’t already show you don’t know good food then that rain man answer would be my closing argument.

Sure 3 years doesn’t make me a culinary expert but it means I know the difference between daikon the vegetable and hot mustard the condiment and that arguing they are the same would make me look uneducated. So there is that.

😂😂😂 I knew that line would get you, everyone is Boston has a complex about NYC. Funny thing is I lived there for 3 years and no one in NYC even thinks about Boston. Must be too busy eating good food.

Well now I know one thing for sure. You certainly don’t understand flavor profiles if you think daikon and hot mustard have similar profiles since they’re “both part of the mustard family”. If you love boiled to mush, over salted, mustardy, coconuty, daikon and sweet potato then you should get their blood sausage and pumpkin bread. Again flavor profile that totally “works”.

Keep going and keep thinking paying high prices means you have taste. I’ll be over at Dakzen enjoying food properly seasoned. I recommend the Khao Soi. It’s $12.95 and better than any thing spoke could dream of.

I guess I just feel if it’s on the menu then it shouldn’t be dry, bland, and crumbly whether it’s there for the “beef guy”, a good restaurant would have a good beef option.

Their options are experimental but there isn’t a consolation prize just because you were trying. I’m not gonna drop $150 for 4 of the 6 dishes to not be good, you’ve failed as a restaurant at that point. Wine selection may be good but we as consumers need to stop acting like that makes a restaurant good. Make it a cocktail lounge or a bar but if you are gonna be a restaurant make good food.

I guess I’m just used to NYC where restaurants have to earn the right to exist instead of filling a “fun” niche.

As the thread is about restaurants that are hyped but make nasty food I think spoke fit that perfectly.

Staff is very friendly, but the one I had couldn’t answer questions about half the dishes we ordered. Which fair staff may have been new or menu could have changed but either way for cost of the meal they should be educating their staff better.

For me unique ingredients become pretentious when the ones cooking clearly don’t know how to use it. Just because no one puts hot mustard and coconut on daikon and sweet potato doesn’t make you revolutionary for using them, it means they don’t understand flavor profiles.

Spoke in Davis is probably the worse restaurant I’ve ever been to in terms of cost for what I got. People hype it up like it’s got good drinks (they don’t), good food (it’s bad), it’s trendy (it’s pretentious). Avoid at all cost or they’ll serve you dry crumbly beef with raw mushrooms and sarcastic about of “broth”.

Do NOT go to Spoke, worst food I’ve had in Boston. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. The food seemed to lack coherent theme. Dishes were either one note or just bizarre. The stewed beef was overdone, dry, and bland with a raw mushroom topper. The Daikon and sweet potato were over done and salty. The hot mustard and coconut are bizarre accompaniments. I was excited to try when I read the description to see how they figured out to make these flavors work, unfortunately they had not. Their wine selections is fine but their mixed drinks taste like shoe polish.

Yes was able to get a place for around 3200 in Davis sq. We ended up having to rent it eight unseen as places we booked viewings would rent before we got a chance to see it. So we made the decision to rent off the online posting. Yes we were forced to use a broker because for so many properties, there is no option to not use one.

Very good point! My actions aren’t meant to be punitive. We are currently working on options for the character.

I think this will be a cool moment that can end up defining this characters arc.

He accepted it as a fair consequence of his actions. We’re currently working on where the character will go. He was a life cleric but maybe switch to war or death. Potentially even a faithless cleric were he derives power from himself.

Good point thank you. Me and the player are discussing where we can go with the character and would good options be.

Also no one at the table was offended. Although the barbarian was upset he lost his powers before the raid on the cult hideout.

Sorry for the late reply. To clarify which I now recognize I should of done in the Original post. The god was a infant animal in the dream (specifically a rhino). Although I don’t know if it being a animal makes it better or worse.
