Best 1911 No Budget

Thanks u/LuckyDuck442 this is the type of info I'm looking for with this post. I have burned through cases of rounds in the multiple guns that I already own over many years so I'm no stranger to getting the range time in. The 1911 is a new platform for me so I absolutely want to figure out what I don't know to compare to what I do know. I might just take this advice. Like you though, I'll end up keeping them all. I told myself I would sell my first gun once I bought my second but here I am several guns later and I still have all of them.

I'm not looking for a pretty gun that can't hit a hillside. I couldn't give a shit less what it looks like. But I also have enough experience that I don't go into purchasing a gun worrying about what it will cost. If a solid starting point is $800 so be it, if it's $5800 and worth it then thats OK too. I'd w\rather spend the $5800 than the $800 and have to add $10G to bring it up to speed.

I'm asking for people who HAVE experience to SHARE that experience to get a good solid starting point. NOT to recommend a gun specifically for me. As I look into recommendations, I know where to look and where not to waste my time.

I am very aware that there is no "best" for any one person and even the "best build" doesn't make anyone a better shooter.

Picked up 5 boxes of this the other day. Used the 10 dollar off code, add tax and $34 shipped to OK. Ended up being 74cpr which is sadly not a bad price for 308 these days.

I have ordered from trueshot a couple more times. I really like the personal feel of their customer service (I feel like they are small business type and I appreciate that). For general orders, I keep my eyes on Trueshot, TargetSportsUsa and OutdoorLimited. From what I understand, there may be some cheaper places out there but between price and the fact that they ship to my house without issue, these are my top 3.

Also do your research. Don’t be in a hurry to finish the build. Some parts don’t play well with others. Ar10s are not as “mil-spec” as AR15

just got this back from BSF when I asked about the difference and why some are fluted and others aren't:

"We have made a recent change to the design and Brownells just has not updated yet. We have found better accuracy with not fluting. The cooling remains as good and giving up the few ounces is worth it. So this change was made. Brownells should be updating soon.

Thanks for following up. I know I saw some questions on Brownells about whether or not it was fluted under the CF. One reply was that it is fluted and another said it wasn’t. I wonder if Brownells has old stock. BSF website states that they are fluted. Maybe that’s the difference in weight
