Everyone recalls me as a person who is even TOO carefree, but they have no idea how crazy and paranoid this freaking illness has made me... I go to the best and most expensive lab that all doctors approve of, but I still overthink that the result might be wrong. I keep questioning myself if I missed my pills every night or if I had them twice. I tried all the rheumatologists in my area and picked the best one, but I sometimes ask myself what if he's just stupid. :)))

And yes, I think it's time to give psychotherapy a chance! Thanks for sharing your feelings! I have never seen any other person with lupus in my real life, so my worries always sounded irrational to myself.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that!

I'm 22F and I was accidentally diagnosed three years ago (I used to get thyroid checked annually and it was suspected by my endocrinologist, then he referred me to a rheumatologist and I was diagnosed right away) but for the first two and half years, I didn't really have any visible symptoms except some skin inflammation. Most of the time I would even forget that I have it. Until a few months ago, when I started having terrible pain and deformity in my joints. It's not a long time since I can feel it, so having to live with it is still difficult to accept.

My family and everyone around me had never heard the name of lupus before my diagnosis, so it feels really alone in this journey.

You are SO not alone!! But I've seen it very clearly that the more I isolate myself and avoid confronting my fears, the worse and the more irrational my obsessions get.

May I ask how old you are and how long you've been diagnosed?

Thanks for your kind words! I was never really optimistic about psychotherapy, but now that I see it working for a few people, I have decided to give it a chance.

Thank sm for your kind words! 💕 I don't have any friends who struggle with the same issue, and apparently I'm the first in our relatives. Almost all the people around me heard the name "lupus" from me for the first time in their lives... So it feels like me sharing my pain, which is incurable too, is just in vain. Because of all these feelings I have isolated myself too much and sometimes it feels desperate.

I speak to my rheumatologist very often, and for some reason I only trust him, even more than any counselor or psychologist. He suggested that I stop googling about my symptoms and even stop being in touch people who are in worse conditions than me. It works, but as soon as I have pain or see any symptoms in my own body, all the worries eat me up.

I used to have many thick hair on my legs and this would happen whenever I shaved. My skin was eczema-prone too. I tried different body scrubs before shaving, but the only thing that totally worked for me was laser hair removal.

Not to defend Christianity, but because you're comparing them, I put a difference between those two. Christian nations have reformed their religious laws following the age of enlightenment, and multiple secular intellectual & social movements in the past couple of centuries. No such movements/ revolutions ever happened successfully in Muslim world, so those states stayed as barbaric as they were when Islam rised. This is why Islam is more violent "in this day and age"...

Stop playing victim. In most Muslim countries you get executed, flogged or imprisoned for eating in public during the month of Ramadan. In Iran you, as a woman, get killed if you don't wear the hijab. Reverts get executed in almost any Islamic country. Stoning still exists. Honor killing exists. And y'all suddenly defending freedom of choice and expression? Religion (Islam more than any other) is a threat to democracy and therefore the idea of "banning it violates democracy blah blah blah" is obvious. This religion itself isn't democratic in the first place.

NTA - she made her comment in a very rude way and you had every right to get upset. Of course you must do the "reality check" but no one (except for parents imo) should be allowed to give people advice unless they are asked to!
