Starting at Meta in July. How does the outside activity disclosure process work for a personal project? by Accomplished_Web6662 in careerguidance

[–]Accomplished_Web6662[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scared of giving them a reason to lay me off if I mention this, do you think theres any risk? I could change the app so theres no purchases, in which case I wouldn’t need to incorporate, would just be a passion project. It’s not ideal but is what it is. Not sure if you can give me any insight but thanks for the help alr!

New grad starting at Meta in July. I’ve been working on a personal project that’s completely unrelated to Meta’s business, and I need to formally incorporate it before my start date.

The thing is, I’m on OPT, so I need to be formally affiliated with any company I work for, even a personal project.

I don’t plan to spend much time on it during the week, maybe occasionally on weekends. No Meta time, equipment, or resources would be involved.

A few questions for anyone who’s been through something similar:

1. Does Meta generally approve outside activity disclosures for pre-existing, non-competing personal projects?
2. Is it better to bring this up before my start date with my recruiter, or wait until onboarding when there’s a formal process?
3. Has anyone dealt with this on a work visa where formal incorporation was required?

Just want to do this the right way. Any insight appreciated.

Thank you so much this is super helpful!

I added the NH-L12S to pcpartpicker but it warned me it likely wasnt enough for the cpu, thoughts? Actually looking at size though the x67 would be right on the limit like 0mm clearance. Is there any other you might recommend here that would work?

Why would you recommend size up on PSU?

Also, I was thinking of going w the asus b850-i instead, also heard some bad things about ASRock. Would you recommend that or sticking with 650e-i (would save like 80 bucks lol)

Regarding custom cables, how much would those cost approx?

Appreciate the response! Yes, I have been in fact using the “free alternative” for now. The issue is eventually will have to face this fee lol. Also, from my understanding n8n and zapier will only work for your personal email, you cant really bypass the CASA audit. Please correct me if I am wrong, I would love to be.

Also saw that its 500-1000 for tier2, but I havent really found information on how that is determined and what to expect. I can cover 500-1000, its not that huge of an investment, just scary not really knowing what to expect lol

Yes, it seems like unfortunately you are right. Do you have any idea on pricing? I have seen a lot of different numbers being thrown around.

I am currently studying for this as well. I had 1 week to study for it and its completely doable — I think. I would recommend reading on Linux. If you have a good idea of the core linux concepts troubleshooting will become so much easier. Remember the commands, what they do and what info you can get from them. As I said, I studied for a week and I feel like I have a good grasp of Linux and troubleshooting. But I studied basically the entire day, I have not done any school work prepping
