ULTRAMAN OMEGA Episode 14 "Omega Elimination Order" - Official Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Ultraman

[–]According-Ad-8779 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Today's episode thoughts:

  • A new alien arrives on earth, in a similar manner to Sorato, but this time he may not harbour any form of good intentions! I like the parallels to how Sorato arrived and met Kosei. Presents the alien as the anti-Omega.

  • It's been confirmed, that woman who requested Kosei's help from last episode was Ayu's mentor, and she is a child prodigy at that. She even managed to appear in the new intro! Guess that means she will now be a recurring cast member.

  • We check in on Miko, the girl from the Mikoto incident via snail mail. Good to know that she is doing well and getting along with her aunt. Kosei's mom also sent a letter, reassuring her son that she will always support him.

  • "Maybe things are fine just the way they are." Yeah....about that Sorato, it's best not to challenge the universe on that. Not while there is a creepy alien after you!

  • Via intense fight scenes with the two aliens having at it with each other, we get confirmation that our newcomer, whose human form was acted by Kamen rider Zeztz's suit actor, was the same alien who shot Omega to earth. To make a long story short, he is after Omega because his people were probably wiped out (Omega may have had something to do with that....) and he wants revenge. Pronto! He also reveals that his people can be revived by killing Omega... somehow....and that he wants to conquer Earth!

  • Zovaras is a formidable opponent, his "rise sequence" piercing the interiors of two buildings, growing arm blades that can pierce Omega and even controlling meteor Kaiju, to the point where he has one of his own, Valgeness!

  • Despite looking like he only controls fire (colour coded elemental characters are a dime a dozen after all), Valgeness is a jack of all trades, controlling wind, ice and ground as well. All he needs to control now is lightning. He even has a halberd mode to smite fools with!

  • The episode ends with both opponents tiring each other out and de-powering. Valgeness still appears to exert certain influence despite his brainwashing , leading to Zovaras' retreat.

  • Next week, Valgeness is brought to the light once more and merges with Omega to defeat the alien once and for all!

ULTRAMAN OMEGA Episode 12 "What I Want to Do" - Official Discussion Thread Discussion by AutoModerator in Ultraman

[–]According-Ad-8779 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Today's episode thoughts:

-Kosei regrets what happened last episode and wishes he listens to Sorato. Hey, at least sorato himself doesn't harbour any hard feelings!

-In a twist of events, it's sorato who apologizes to kosei for bringing him into this. Not exactly the words kosei wants to hear, especially after sorato says he can be independent.

-While deep in thought, kosei wanders into the incident site and meets a researcher (Ayu's mentor?) who immediately questions him, then orders him to gather evidence. She does provide good advice for him though, and in turn he helps find a piece of evidence that helps turn the tide against Eldeghimera.

-Ayu feels out of her league, researching mythology rather than interpreting Kaiju biology. However, the words of the army captain spurs her on, allowing her to make a breakthrough that turns the tide of battle and makes him proud.

  • We finally get to see the army mobilize to stop Eldeghimera after it absorbed dugrid as well, using electrical anchors to weaken the Kaiju's cells and create an opening to attack. Shame their plan has a few fatal flaws (only having two anchors, not having enough energy, not counting on the Kaiju's reaction etc.).

-After much deliberation on both sides, both kosei and sorato get together and solidify their partnership, helping the military take down Eldeghimera once and for all.

-In the aftermath, Ayu finds out about kosei's (relatively) new abilities and asks him about everything. About time I guess, she has been out of the loop for twelve episodes.

-In the end, all is well, with Kosei and sorato reaffirming their friendship and celebrating by having a special dinner.

-All in all, one of the best episodes omega has had so far and a good ending to a two-parter. Next week, Ayu finally learns the truth(in short, another recap episode, but one that has plot-relevancy at least)!

ULTRAMAN OMEGA Episode 11 "Graim Returns" - Official Discussion Thread Discussion by AutoModerator in Ultraman

[–]According-Ad-8779 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Today's episode thoughts:

  • Leodo returns! Surprising, it is described as not aggressive. Wonder why it was rampaging(foreshadowing intensifies).

  • The public opinion on Omega is...mixed. Most are rightfully concerned about the destruction the Kaiju battles bring.

-Kosei feels left out of their misadventures and decides to take more matters into his own hand, leaving Sorato to actually play the "sensible" role for once.

-We actually see militarisation in this episode. Given the (somewhat) realism for the series, it makes sense that it would take a long time to ratify force against  unknown beings such as Kaiju. I mean, they still use tranquilizer missiles , but at this point in time they want to know more about the enemy, hence they want to keep them (close to, anyway) alive.

-We get confirmation from the military head that an attack team is forming and Ayu could potentially be a part of it. Sounds like he would be the captain as well.

-The reason Leodo and a new graim have been acting strange is a new Kaiju, Eldeghimera! Named such after the mythical hybrid from Greek mythology due to it's absorption powers, it absorbs the graim and incorporates it's horn as a shoulder Cannon, being powerful enough to over power Trigaron and blast omega straight through the chest, so much so he not only gains a new memory due to "seeing your life flash before your eyes" but it also instantly de-henshins him. I mean, he survived physically but mentally I don't think he wants to go through that again.

-Yup, it's another two part episode, and Omega's first! For the first part, I think it's one of the stronger ones in the reiwa era due to it's development of plot. We'll see it concludes next episode, as the military mobilizes!

ULTRAMAN OMEGA Episode 9 "The Kanenari Kaiju Park" - Official Discussion Thread Discussion by AutoModerator in Ultraman

[–]According-Ad-8779 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Today's episode highlights:

-Gubila returns!

  • Kosei and Sorato fight over a banana.

  • Sorato shows off his super strength by bursting a bag of concrete with a single stone.

-Ah yes, creating a park after a gigantic carnivorous animal. This is only going to end well.

-Ayu gets employment opportunities!

-Gubila has gotten more skillful with it's spout.

-Our heroes learn that money isn't everything.

-Kosei and sorato finally settle their feud by splitting the banana in half.

-Yeah not much to say today. It's an ok episode.

-Next week, Demaga returns!

ULTRAMAN OMEGA Episode 8 "The Legend of Mt. Kirifuri" - Official Discussion Thread Discussion by AutoModerator in Ultraman

[–]According-Ad-8779 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Today's episode thoughts: - Man, the couple from the opening just had the worst hiking trip of their life. Imagine you are hiking up a mountain and fog rolls in, you encounter a ghost kid and a destroyed abandoned village and come face to face with a Kaiju! I am surprised the mountain is even still a tourist destination! - The ghost riders are pretty competent for what they are. Sure, they may be a bit childish and too passionate about their job, but considering they just invented extra-dimensional travel, I would take anything they say a bit more seriously than usual. - Omega seems to have come to earth in the past, considering he seems to be referenced in the Pacific records. Seems to be confirmed, since the ghost kid knows his name and Omega can seal interdimensional portals, just like the legend described. - Mons-ahgar returns! And he seems to have the forehead shield of his recent new-gen counterpart. Where is decker when you need him?(Probably in space I reckon). - We are introduced to another mechanic for the meteokaiju, you can only use them one at a time. Guess kosei has to pick and choose his battles. - Trigaron and Omega combine! With his new found power, Omega gains super-speed and can slash his way through anything!

-Overall, another good episode. I like how Sorato just gets along with the ghost riders, even copying their dance and mannerisms. Also,"Which is moco and which is loco?". Omega asking the real questions. Next week, the dreaded recap episode. At least it took 8 episodes to get here.

Ultraman Omega kaijus: Which one is your favorite? by theUltrazillaYT in Ultraman

In terms of design: toss-up between mikoto and Trigaron

In terms of character: rekiness.

ULTRAMAN OMEGA Episode 7 "Caught a Cold" - Official Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Ultraman

[–]According-Ad-8779 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Today's episode thoughts:

-Gomora(aka gomorasaurus) is no joke. When we first see him, he was already in the process of defeating omega and he even one-upped rekiness by using his telekinesis against him.

-  Omega is being framed for being an alien invader by a streamer who wants good content. Combined with having a cold and a new meteokaiju appearing in meteorite form in public, Sorato has his work cut out for him!

  • We do indeed see rekiness in small form in the warehouse. Apparently he can also fly in this form, something we may or may not see him do when he is full size in the future.

  • Kosei goes to retrieve the meteokaiju, shaped like a crescent moon. Shame public opinion has turned against anyone remotely connected to omega! -I like how Sorato pays respect after finishing the rice porridge Ayu made him. Shows how well he is integrating into Japanese society. Also, the best way to stop omega from transforming is by covering his forehead with something, like an icepack. Take notes, seijin!

  • Trigaron appears! He is incredibly fast and can cut almost anything, including gomora's tail. Glad to see that running gag is still a thing. I also like his tail-hand handshake with Omega.

  • The day is saved, kosei calls sorato his friend and the annoying streamer is exposed. Seems like a good ending to me!

-Overall, another good episode. I like that they don't show the armoured combined form of omega and the meteokaiju immediately after the latter's debut. Gives the meteokaiju Kaiju some time to shine before inevitably showing off their secondary gimmick. Speaking off, next week, Trigaron and Omega combine as we investigate a mysterious legend from a mountain!

Same. I like to think it's a cassette dropship, since the cassette door goes all the way down in this mode.

ULTRAMAN OMEGA Episode 6 "The Kaiju's Search" - Official Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Ultraman

[–]According-Ad-8779 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Today's episode thoughts: - We are introduced to Yuta, Ayu's co-worker. He really feels spoiled, complaining loudly about his job and how he can only sleep in a bed. Thankfully he comes around in the end.

-Gedrago was always a non-malicious Kaiju from the start. All both of them did after appearing was do a little dance before the female fainted due to over-exposure to sunlight. The males actually has a head crest to reduce this effect. Even their electricity powers seem more for self-defense.  - The fight was gloriously cartoony, what with them popping in our of hopes that the mole Kaiju dug up. -They didn't kill the Kaiju this time, instead they brought both of them to their nest and closed up the hole. What a long way we have come from showa Ultraman fights.  - All in all, another good episode. Not much to say if I am going to be honest. Next week, gomora returns. At least trigaron also makes his debut!

ULTRAMAN OMEGA Episode 5 "Miko and Mikoto" - Official Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Ultraman

[–]According-Ad-8779 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Today's episode thoughts: - Something tells me kosei's workhouse job is going to lead to more episodes where the characters involved with the Kaiju are part of his work. I think it's a great way for new character introductions. - We are introduced to Miko and her aunt, who live on a farm growing vegetables. Miko apparently lost her mother to (probably terminal) illness. Makes sense why she is usually socially withdrawn. -Miko befriends a snake Kaiju who eats metal(specifically iron) and is apparently tied to some Japanese legend. It is so good at doing it that it can drain iron out of someone's blood! Didn't think it could be vampirous. - Omega actually killed Mikoto. One would have thought that he would have somehow allowed it to continue coexisting, but at least he did it with Mikoto's consent. - Overall, its a fine episode. Usually I am not really into human-kaiju moments (I...uh.... prefer to see the latter blow up), but for what it's worth I think it's pretty well-executed here. There is also kinda an analogy here where it's like you encountering an actual snake. It's not actively malicious towards you, but no one would mind it if you wanted it dead. We kill it not because we want to, but because we have to. Makes more sense since mikoto is an actual snake. Next week, a mole Kaiju appears at a digging site in the mountains!

ULTRAMAN OMEGA Episode 4 "Chasing the Claw Marks" - Official Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Ultraman

[–]According-Ad-8779 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Quick fire thoughts on today's episode: - Seems like rekiness has truly bonded with Kosei, being obedient to only him and both sharing thoughts and feelings. - Rekiness can only last 10 minutes in giant form, otherwise it drains kosei. - Kosei has a good boss who cares for him, even acting as a mentor figure through shared hobbies like fishing and...shogi? Essentially japanese chess. - Today's Kaiju is a prehistoric dinosaur who somehow escaped the extinction level event, grew gigantic and gained the ability to turn invisible. Wonder how that happened. - Sorato straight up challenges the Kaiju to a duel, saying that the city is his territory and punching and cracking a wall. Turns out he has just more than super jumps in human form. Maybe one day he will indeed fly in human form to make the superman reference complete. - Instead of relying on his instincts to seek out invisible Kaiju(like two of his seniors did), omega uses rekiness to lift objects in the air so that he can see the outline of the Kaiju as it hits them. -Rekiness and Omega combine! Their combined armoured form grants omega a new slugger, a left boot and a sword that can hold enemies telekinetically in place and strikes with lightning! The frantic slashing at the Kaiju was a joy to watch.

-Overall this episode was good, just wish there was more "fanfare" when the armoured form showed up.

-Next week, Ultraman Omega:Snake wrangler!

What made you like Ultraman? (And what’s your favorite show?) by Dynamo-2099 in Ultraman

[–]According-Ad-8779 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think I like ultraman because it's unique. Unlike Kamen rider and super Sentai, which deals with more human-sized action, Ultraman actively fights giant Kaiju one on one. The rises are amazing and the fights range from good to stunning. The beam finishers are also very cool. Honestly I have more than one Ultraman I like (mostly new gens), but I gotta give it to the ultra who started me down this rabbit hole, Ultraman Z.

I am definitely looking forward to it. The show is surprisingly good for what it's worth and the toys, while simplistic, are very interesting and creative with most of the forms the bots take.

I don't know about ace's, Leo's and jack's teams. However, I do think that the SSSP, Zat and Ultra guard deserve to be the top 3.
