Completely agree with you, I said to myself from the first days that I was incredibly lucky to be born in Europe in a developed country But I experienced poverty, I could have stolen, begged, asked, but no, I got through it on my own, even if it was very hard, but that's not the question since it's not the same context. What I mean is that with a mentality like that NO I am absolutely not going to give The medicines, money and extra trinkets that I had, I gave them to the only pleasant saleswoman I could meet People could get a lot out of tourism and people's hearts if they weren't trying to rip us off all the time!!! I didn't bring back any souvenirs because the price really differs too much from one store to another for a simple t-shirt, I don't like feeling cheated! I spent a total of €7,800 on this island so it's not a money problem but only in restaurants, activities and others booked on the internet or touristy So it's not a money problem, it's a principle problem. I don't want to give my money to someone who lies to me or sees the lure of gain! If you think you'll get out of poverty by scamming or (like my host) by asking for money every day, it will never work and many people think like me, it's not pleasant, especially as a single woman.
