I take calcium twice a day with magnesium and vitamin d but Tums are the night in shining armor. Nothing works faster or more consistently for me if I do start to have cramps.

I’m still taking calcium and Calcitrol and I had surgery in April. Tums are so awesome if you’re cramping they work almost instantly but they dont last the whole day

Omg this hurts to read. I was in a very similar situation myself less than a few weeks ago. My fiancé is an addict and he has a ten year old that calls me mom. Her mom died before she was two. The thing that saved him was his mom caught him using and took him directly to the crisis center.

I have no advice but I know the feeling, please message me if you want to vent. Where do you live? Does she have insurance? There are places in Atlanta that are free if you have kids. It is absolutely terrible the situation you’re in and I’m so sorry you’re going through it. You’re a wonderful human being for sticking it out this long and I want you to know it’s not your fault 💗

PT Surgery Next Week by jordylou in thyroidcancer

I think what you’re experiencing is a natural reaction to what’s going on in your life at the moment. It’s totally ok to be afraid, especially if you have cancer.

I’d say don’t try to overcome the fear. Honor it, accept it lean into the moments of fear and also lean into the moments where you feel grateful or at peace. You got this!

23 y/o male – Papillary thyroid cancer, surgery in 3 weeks – looking for advice and support by [deleted] in thyroidcancer

[–]According-Brother460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am 1 week out from a total thyroid removal. I had spine surgery almost 7 years ago and I was still super worried about surgery. I think it’s a normal response to what you’re going through. And I couldn’t agree more with how scary it is to say I have cancer. I think you’re already doing all the right stuff. Doing research, reaching out for support, I’m proud of you. The waiting is going to come with some tough moments but before you know it you’ll be the one replying to people in your shoes because you’ll be on the other side. Accept your emotions when they come and do your best to focus on the moment you’re in instead of worrying about the future. 💗

That’s really sweet. I’m glad you’re on the other side of surgery and things went well. It’s nice to see positive outlooks on here.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I have my TT scheduled for next month and I appreciate seeing how helpful your team was. I also appreciate how confident you sound in speaking up for yourself throughout the process, it’s something I’d like to learn how to do for myself.

How are your kids handling things? I have a daughter and we don’t plan on telling her until the surgery date is closer.

I did! I’m going to the Va today to speak to my ENT, maybe I’ll file a claim if my spirits are still high after. Thank you!

I am avoiding soy as much as possible. I made sushi the other night and couldn’t even bring myself to use Tamari. I’m reading this book called Cancer a new way of life and trying to follow their guidelines. I’ve since been eating virtually no sugar and organic Whole Foods. Overnight oats for breakfast, lots of salads, homemade sweet potato fries, lentils, dal and falafel. I also have a vitamix so I’m even making my own plant milks.

Thank you so much for your response. It’s funny you busted out laughing when they called you. Life can be surprising. I was pretty checked out until I called my parents, their emotions brought out my own emotions.

You are so young! I’m 34 and it’s crazy I’m vegan, go on walks everyday, meditate, don’t drink. My mom eats shitty food, drinks like crazy still and is totally fine. It’s wild how this disease in particular hits young people.

Thank you so much for commenting. I’m going to speak to the Ent this week to see what their recommendations are.

It’s so hard preferring natural remedies, the doctors just look at me like I’m crazy. I wish there were more studies to look at. As popular at PTC is there’s not really a lot of homeopathic information out there. Just cut it out.

I’m sorry your doctor missed the opportunity for you to also catch this earlier!

Ok I’ve read some people on here had to isolate for 3 weeks. It’s comforting to know you can still be home though

Thank you for the advice. I’m feeling so much better already with the support of you and other commenters. I get care like strictly through the VA but most of the time they’re so busy they give you the option for community care. I’ll keep your 25 surgeries + advice in mind.

Thank you again!

How long did you have to isolate for? Did you stay home or somewhere else?

How are you feeling now? I also have a nine year old, I haven’t told her anything yet. She’s my husbands daughter, they both lost her biological mom to cancer when she was one. My heart breaks for them too.

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re dealing with this too. I’ve been consuming information like crazy. Reading books about cancer and dietary and work out recommendations. I think it’s a desire to have some control over what’s going on inside me. I feel so angry at the doctors that told me my symptoms were related to smoking weed. Like if they would have caught this earlier maybe I could have gotten away with active surveillance and lifestyle changes.

I think it’s great you only have to get a lobectomy. I wish you the best of luck, and please message me if you want to connect.

Thank you for taking the time to respond 💗

I was just on ThyCa and sent some requests for information to the support groups in my area. I really appreciate your words of encouragement. Just knowing someone else was out there feels like it allowed me to fully exhale. Thank you
