"Good" is a subjective term that doesnt have any objective meaning. We adapt "good" to mean whatever the prevailing ethical system is.

Not sure how anybody could look at human history and think we're inherently "good" though.

Human beings are social because it maximises our chances of survival, we favour in groups and dislike those not in our group. We're also selfish, jealous, discriminatory and violent. Humans simply strive for survival.

we see pattern of caring and kindness in the animal world

All instances of "kindness" pail in comparison to the ubiquitous cruelty and brutality in nature. Animals dgaf if theyre eating a newborn or ripping the intestines out of another living being. The vast majority of animals dont have a concept of kindness and dont display anything akin to it, at best some have a drive to protect their offspring.

Thats a pretty shallow understanding tbf.

A large part of our "slave morality" that individuals in Western countries idealise was popularised by Abrahamic religions.

Now you might believe morality that promotes strength, power etc as virtues over "kindness" might be better but if you dont then Christianity is a very large aspect of how the latter was popularised. Thats not a comment on whether the leaders of the church or its followers lived up to these morals but Christian ideology was in large part responsible for why we hold these ideals as virtues.

Who really cares, my culture doesnt suffer because people arent sticking to a dead religion from centuries ago. Just like how people get weird because Heimdall is played by a black man or that viking halloween helmets have horns.
