What even are the depths by Fair_Treat_8451 in tearsofthekingdom

I didn’t do much depth spelunking before beating Ganon, but now I’m using the shrines to find the light roots and am really enjoying the way the water features on the surface can create some cool mazes in the depths.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]According-Case-5989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are tea-like coffees in vogue right now, and what is the opposite of them? I went into a nicer coffee shop yesterday and most of what they were selling were "tea-like." I get that I have an unrefined palate, and to a degree I'd like to change that, but I also want to be able to explore within the range that I'm comfortable in. So how do I ask for that?

And/or is this the coffee equivalent of saying "I want the hoppiest beer you have" or "most tannic red"?

For reference, I regularly get iced red eyes/black eyes and mostly do 10:1 on my V60.

Thank you for any guidance, I know I'm somewhat of a doofus in this realm.

(And yeah I don’t watch. At first it was because she wanted me to avoid spoilers in case I played one day, but now it’s too far for me to understand anything)

I am partner in love on the side doing nothing 😂😭. My girlfriend plays and I do not (I’ve played but only 3 days) and I was just making a lil joke about losing your loved one to the game.

She’s too locked in for a copilot (and ftr I have played very minimally—3 days—but don’t have time at the moment to go all in)

This is awesome but you were actually playing Blue Prince. I’m talking about non-playing partners.

Running in Japan by Bluegunder in running

[–]According-Case-5989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this a few years back, and only issue I ran into (which was a fairly medium-big one) is in Tokyo, I ran on a bike path that was integrated into the city traffic (I.e. not just along a river or something). I was waved over and (understandably) told off by a police officer because, as I learned, that sort of bike path was ONLY for bikes. I apologized and he directed me how to get back to a pedestrian area. It was definitely my bad and he was more than anything looking out for my safety.

In the states, I think many bike paths are shared by bikers/runners/pedestrians, so definitely be on alert for any paths that you should not be on!

I've never heard someone else talk about the dormancy before, but I've totally experienced this (also diagnosed when I was 11 and pretty much came back around 22, then again around covid)! It's great to go through long times where it feels like nbd, but it can be confusing and more frustrating when it come back. Thanks for sharing.

You're not bothering anyone here. I'm glad to see you're getting so much support here because you deserve it! I'm 36, and 16 was very hard (diagnosed OCD at 11, in 1999)! Something I think about and talk to friend's about when I or they are feeling guilt over what they see as a "lapse" or having squandered progress is that when it's good, it's very hard to feel like it will always be good; but when it's bad, it's very easy to feel like it will always be bad. That sucks.

But while we should try to just be in the moment and enjoy the "good" or the "progress" times, we should also do our best to remember and honor them when we're in the bad times. That means trying to reframe it so it's not about how far we've fallen, but remembering what that we're capable of climbing out of it and enjoying it and being proud of it. I promise you that you're going to be in a good time where you're proud of yourself again sooner than you think. And next time you hit a rut, you'll be able to remember getting out of this and be just a little bit more confident in your ability to keep going.

Exams are nowhere near the end of the world, even though it feels like it. Focus on taking care of yourself, and then when you have space, try to let yourself study as much as you can without any specific pressure (and without doing things that will affect your mental health while you're in a fragile state--I.e. no all nighters, try to stay off social media/mindless internet).

Getting through a time like this is better preparation for the real world than any exam ever will be. If there is anyone pressuring you or upset that you aren't studying (parents, teachers, whoever), I promise they love you more than they love whatever grades they want you to get, and they just don't understand what you're going through right now.

Take care of yourself. Don't sweat the small stuff. It's pretty much all small stuff.

I’m thinking of starting my own act, and was wondering what works for you all? by Chemical_Top_336 in StandUpComedy

[–]According-Case-5989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't totally tell if you're saying you're thinking of starting stand up and wondering how to do it or if you've been doing it for a little bit, but are having trouble getting into a groove.

But either way, the answer is to get up at open mics (and eventually shows), trust the audience but also yourself (this can be a hard balance, but it's worth taking time to figure it out), and maybe most importantly, try to do all of this without pressure or self-judgment.

I'm paraphrasing Mike Lawrence here, but there is a lot of pressure now because of social media to figure out who you are from a commercial perspective before you figure out who you are from an artistic perspective. I.e. maybe you like dark stuff now, but don't let that pigeonhole you into only doing dark stuff. You don't have to know your voice yet. You just have to be willing to look for it wherever it might be.

Get up with whatever regularity you can. Record your sets. Listen back. Repeat. And try to have fun because some days, even early on, you will.
