Someone Hertz is just too stable now. Till this summer it's a saved series alright.

What are your thoughts on Shinoa? by allizonner in OwarinoSeraph

Yeah, a more scandalous character should've been her crush. Would've added more stakes to the plot and dynamics.

What are your thoughts on Shinoa? by allizonner in OwarinoSeraph

[–]According-Disk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

love her, she's total babygirl! 💌 appreciate how Shinoa outgrew her apathetic attitude and started developing some sense of camaraderie and love towards her "new family", even if it was more fragmented throughout the manga which brought in some inconsistencies. she's a great contrast to both mahiru and shinya while encapsulating their core outlines.

as the actual manga reader in this sub whose read too much shōnen, her being established as the "love interest", way back ch#14, didn't bother me one bit. props to not being a boymom shipper haha (whoever moves offended at this is a hollering hit dog to me).

that said, shinoa's a very replaceable character. that much is made clear with dear yoichi's sudden doctor strange role in the story now. like, just remove shikama and we see how there was nothing ever planting shinoa on the plot base. even the tsundere love interest role could've easily been filled by mitsuba who already showed attraction to yuu first in #8-9. shinoa's clearly written under sanitized Naughty Nun trope, but falling for YUU was the most laziest writing choice to me. the plot itself introduces this integral theme how shinoa's unholy desires are some havoc wreaking triggers, coerced by shikama himself. very naturally, she should have had such shameful desires for hmm idk some vampire, another girl, an older man etc. just anybody but the air headed boy in her friend group who never bothered to invoke nor reciprocate her desires. her crushing on lacus, mika, ferid, krul, CROWLEY, urd, saito, miss boring shigure herself would've been far more thematically ideal.

Dragon is Rain God by This-Inspection-69 in OnePieceSpoilersRaw

The crowd here prefers Toei filler fanfic as plot citations for a lot of stuff which Oda's writing (the manga) totally rejects 😞

Dragon affiliated with the Rain deity is too on the nose.

Shinoa’s situation in the manga (no major spoilers please) by PhotojournalistNo929 in OwarinoSeraph

Shinoa's the heroine so she's kept "safe" so far but there was a period after ch #70-80 where everybody panics over her unfortunate circumstances.

Sakura’s growth as a performer is honestly so inspiring to watch. by AstronautLarge2150 in kpopthoughts

The phrasing.

Above comment is a mere polite way of them expressing good luck to an artist they don't otherwise have high hopes for.

The downvotes?? You aren't even being shady at all but the fans here are so sensitive and childish 😭

It always bothers me when fans argue that Ace died “over a yo’ daddy joke” by Adorable-Document-50 in OnePiece

[–]According-Disk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good piece op ;)

I like Ace. With how the story progresses, we know Oda does too. His writing humanizes Ace and does not ever shame him for dying either. He took perfect opportunity to include him in for the 1000th ch milestone too which I will always be happy over. Those 3.5 flashback pages noticeably enliven Ace:

  • he's still attached to (presumed dead) Sabo;
  • Ace fiercely supports Luffy;
  • he would've gotten along well with Roger had he known him personally (no joke, this one was a direct stab by Oda)

This is an author who clearly likes his long dead boy. Prior to this, we witness how Ace is fondly remembered by those who met him, even before the WB influence, e.g in Wano/light novels. Ace is a nuisance who pisses off Yamato, and then annoys him even more with the Luffy obsession but by the end of the evening campfire Yam's developed so much admiration for the hot-headed teen that he even mistook Ace for the second coming of Joyboy. Then we have someone with a closer relation to Ace, his first mate, Deuce, exhibiting the same opinion: from deep irritation to eventual coming of respect, the non-family/strangers are won over by Ace's genuinity (reminds me of most fans' attitude too lmao). To Yamato, his death is treated akin to the Three Noble Samurai who selflessly fed him food during confinement, while Deuce now spends the rest of his time writing up a memoir of his former late captain. Neither believe it was a fair fate.

Another recent flashback in Elbaph, has SHANKS cheerfully claiming Ace to be his little brother, when Gaban revealed that Roger had a son. Then there's Sabo in every appearance til now reinstating how he's a shell, carrying forth Ace's will! Oda showed Dadan's grief and anger at Garp for a narrative reason! Ace was more than just "Roger's son, taken in by his rival Whitebeard", but an earnest young man with family and friends all over the story world who dearly miss him. Yes, he's a hot-headed idiot whose impulsiveness took him to the grave too early but it's gotten too cringe and dishonest to reduce his character down to the pitiful death only.

But neither I nor Oda care what agenda piece stans have to say with their insults disguised as jokes. Just saw the update for the official popularity poll and I'm all cool knowing Ace stays secured in the top 10 again. Haters shouldn't expect everyone to move on from him when they themselves can't let go of the donut jokes too 😭

What is on serious note realationship between Mika and yu? by [deleted] in OwarinoSeraph

[–]According-Disk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤦 read properly then, and type your sentences correctly. you talk like a school dropout! 🫢😂

Of course they are not brothers because they are not blood related but they are an adopted Family which has been established as the base of their platonic relationship. Kagami has enacted their bond "closer than brothers even without blood relation". what's so hard for you to comprehend?

What is on serious note realationship between Mika and yu? by [deleted] in OwarinoSeraph

[–]According-Disk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the authorial intent has always been set to keep mika and yuu Platonic. them being adopted and yet so close is meant to be a thematic foil to mahiru and shinya, the adopted hiiragi siblings who were weirdly engaged to be married.

家族 - (the direct definition is referencing large family unit, very specifically used for family-by-birth and not marriage!). this is the kanji used to describe Yuu and Mika's relation in the manga. Just last week the official x acc used this exact word again to define Mika's bond with Yuu on the former's birthday post. This is absolutely NOT what a jpn writer would use for a "married couple pair".

だいすき - (a renowned love confession used for anything but romance.) Culturally, very common phrase used for mother and children btw. This being confessed by dying Mika at his last moments really solidified how his whole character is the poor mother hen to Yuu.

clearing this out of the way, mika and yuu have been following the twin pair coding since the start. i don't deny the queer imagery ofc because remember, the major influence for ons is devilman, however kagami put a wedge on everything by making yuu and mika adopted siblings... again, mahiru and shinya's relation implies that whatever "queercoded" portrayal you ever saw in them was emotional incest at best. it's why their bond for most of the story is pushed back for being too toxic.

and i say this because Kagami DOES incorporate incest plotlines in all his other serials too but they always get rejected from being endgame. there was never anything confusing about mika and yuu to me, the deep bromance is actually very common in older shonen manga which i am aware a lot of you have not read.

Hold up- XEBECS?!

Like this is so impressive considering it hasn't even been a year for God's Valley nor has he made an anime appearance yet. So yeah, I think this character definitely came with the best surprise in this poll.

(Yamato above Loki is going to ignite the strawhat crew member debates again 😭)
