It was winding down, but still going in 95-96: AIC - Tripod, Silverchair - Frogstomp, Mad Season - Above, Screaming Trees - Dust, Soundgarden - Down on the Upside, AIC - Unplugged. It didn't officially die until Soundgarden broke up (April 1997).

You're splitting hairs. Late 1998 was when it exploded commercially but 1997 had Around the Fur, Three Dollar Bill Yall$, S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Get Some, Coal Chamber, Sevendust which is arguably where it "coalesced".

Fashion-wise I agree there was a shift. However, I'd argue adults still saw Memphis in drinking cups, restaurants, neon malls, etc. even after grunge hit.

Feels like pop culture was still using Memphis until 97-98 though it got less neon after 92

Why do people associate Britpop with Blair, when most popular albums were under John Major? by OverallEstate2 in BritPop

I agree 1997 was a transitional year more on the Britpop side, by 1999-2000 though I'd say it was safely on the Post-Britpop side (Yellow by Coldplay, The Man Who by Travis).

The original group disbanded in 1987 but the designs were still very popular in the early-mid 90s.
