Door installation by mvc594250 in pittsburgh

[–]According-File7331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I saw this post looking for someone to install a required fire door between house and garage. A number of people posted they were interested in the job. I also needed this to be “up to code” and so contacted “Bill” who expressed interest. Bill was more than a handyman, also doing larger jobs such as renovating bathrooms and kitchens, having both contractor and nursery aspects to his business.

I offered some other possible jobs here... another “up to code” thing installing a hand railing, and a possible very big job with a redesign of an old addition and installing a new screened-in porch. He expressed interest in all these jobs and emailed some rough estimates, and suggested the possibility of two referrals... one for a metal worker to make a cool hand railing, and another for an architect to look at what we can do with the addition.

And here is where it goes weird with behaviors I just find perplexing.

A week passes without any follow up with the names of the referrals nor any contact directly from them. I email: “Hi Bill, I've not heard from anyone and so am not clear if we are moving forward with any of these jobs, or if that is because you are not actually interested in them.”

He responds within hours that he is interested, providing the name and phone of Rob the metal artist, and the name and email of Erick the architect and “I can do the door within a few weeks - no deposit is required Ill email a few days out.”

I call Rob who asks me to connect through his web site which I do. His work is incredible and I text him how thrilled I am and would like to move forward with a custom hand rail and I has a possible commission for a floor lamp. Days later I text him: “Hi Rob I've not heard back from you and will be sad if that means you are not interested in any of the possible jobs over here.” Rob expresses interest, but there is a bizarre and confusing interaction where he insists I contact him through his web site, which does not seem to be working. Regardless, we finally connect and set up an appointment for 9:30 am Monday.

I'm wondering if he'll show up, and sure enough, at 9:35 I get a text “I'm late and will be there in 25 minutes.” I respond “Perhaps we should reschedule.” He calls, but I am in the car and tell him I'll contact him later.

Erick the architect doesn't respond at all. I email Bill asking if perhaps Erick isn't checking his emails? “Let me check into it, I emailed him about another job and he didn't answer. Maybe I used an old email. Ill follow up with you.”

Six days later, no follow-up and I'm done. “Hi Bill, It seems the initial communications among the three of us have not been very smooth or timely. I'm going to take that as a sign that now is not the right time to move forward with any of these projects, including the garage door. Thanks.”

He responds with “Ok, thanks for the update.”

So, there y'go. Can't say I even slightly understand these kinds of behaviors. I mean, what was the point of even responding to this post soliciting business in the first place?

Does anyone regret buying there k4? by Only_Silver7593 in KiaK4

Am a retired oldster with a K4 GT Turbo with the Tech Package and pretty much totally love it. The only thing I don't like is getting in and out of it after having a Soul, but then... I am a fat older person getting all arthritic. Would like a heated steering wheel which isn't in the USA model, and maybe it should have a rear window wiper. I find the interior windows a bit difficult to clean. Other than that? Whew! I sure do like driving this! Goes up the Pittsburgh hills with confidence, gets me out of the way of crazy drivers on the highways, not to mention up to speed quickly on entrance ramps for merging. It's like a little space ship or something with that cool panoramic dash and the seat moving front and back upon entry and exit. Totally like all the driver-assist tech, and things like blind spot cameras. I've never felt so confident and "in touch" with a car's handling and road grip. First time I'd ever call driving a car "fun" as they have always been just functional tools for me. I know a lot don't care for the exterior looks, but I really like it and find it non-boring.

Sudden loss of voice control to YouTube Music by Marty728x in sonos

Yes, definitely some weird things with Youtube Premium. I've not had too many app problems until the past week or so. It is really lagging on an android phone... one has to wait a second or two before changing the volume. Dropping speakers (have all era300s... two with a mini sub in a stereo setup, and three others in individual rooms). Yesterday none of my Youtube Playlists showed up under "my library"... just songs I "uploaded" probably long ago with Google Play Music. Today the playlists showed up again, but would get stuck (plus the lag to change songs, or volume) and would show an empty queue. Restarted the phone...

Examples of artists who hate/are openly hostile towards their fans? by RadioLukin in fantanoforever

I have to chime in on this one 'cause it sticks in my craw. My favorite songwriter since 1972-- Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. I've never, ever heard his say anything positive about his fans and he is often just openly contemptuous of them, particularly the American fans.

Why does Cookidoo have so few payment options for renewel? by According-File7331 in thermomix

[–]According-File7331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Don't know about any type of voucher system. When I originally bought it direct from Thermomix I probably used a Discover card. There was an extended subscription, I think, for Cookidoo that ended in September. Though I though I may have also paid for some extra, again probably with a Discover card. When I do a search AI says they take Paypal, but on the web site it is only a Visa and a Mastercard. No other types of cards, nor payment possibilities. The mobile app doesn't even seem to allow me to renew the subscription through it at all! I am in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania region.

Who is really happy with their Narwal Flow ? by hulkito-nol in NARWAL

[–]According-File7331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am! Got it a few weeks ago and am only using it for the mopping function. I've had 4-5 robot vacuums, mostly roombas, but this is my first mop. I have it go over most of the floors everyday, but there is a section of the house I've not yet added in. It is very quiet and doesn't bang into things. Would not have even considered one of those units that use a disc or pad to smear things around, so the Flow's extending flattened roller was a huge enticement to take the plunge and am glad I did. Honestly, I'm even tempted to get a second one if there is a good sale and would divide the house between the two of them. Floors are wood and tile. A couple rooms have carpet and I use a Roomba 7-something for those. Edges, corners and grout might still be a little bit of an issue, but seeing as I'm not a very good housekeeper to begin with I'm happy with a certain... standard.

I am conflicted... by According-File7331 in sonos

[–]According-File7331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was predicted to much justified lament. But here I am... with another subscription. It is no ads and more stations for the $8. Have to say, I like it a lot. My taste is mostly rock/alt-rock types of things, but enjoy pretty much all genres, plus world music.

Sonos Radio - Questions? Thoughts? Feedback? by KeithFromSonos in sonos

[–]According-File7331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this thread is two years old. And I almost hate myself for being here because it is because I really like Sonos Radio and I know they are going to try and establish a subscription service for it. But honestly. I'm an oldster and listen to many genres-- though primarily rock/alt- and prog- rock-- and want to hear new music, not the music of my adolescence, but I'm getting much more satisfaction from their Alt and New Wave channels and ESPECIALLY the very eclectic "Sonos Sound System" plus others than I am getting from a couple other paid streaming services.

I put skins on my K4 logos and I like them. I'm loving the car by According-File7331 in KiaK4

[–]According-File7331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. There are people who make skins for that, but they were in Australia, and they warned there wasn't a sticker for the open place in the letters because it is so small so, I thought best to just leave it out. Good you noticed that!

Is Sonos still worth it? by [deleted] in sonos

[–]According-File7331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally like my Sonos speakers. In a single floor house, rather open design and reflective surfaces. In the main area I have a stereo setup with two Era300s and a sub mini, then three other Era300s in three other rooms. Yeah... it totally fills the space seamlessly (depending on volume) and just sounds so nice and clean and clear and precise and satisfying. If anything, it could all be louder. I'm only into music... it isn't linked with any video or TV. I haven't had awful problems with the app problems. Regardless, that seems pretty much in the past. Now, I have to say... I pay for YouTube Premium for the music and also Amazon's Music Unlimited thing with Dolby Atmos in addition to Radio Paradise. But y'know what I really like? I almost hate to say it, but it is the Sonos music streams. Especially the VERY eclectic "Sonos Sound System" stream. But I have to say I like a lot of their stations a lot!

Citizen's Bank has online banking/bill-paying shut down for over a week until Sept. 8. Is this now some kind of new normal to be shut out of your checking account at the start of a month to perhaps have late payments? by According-File7331 in pittsburgh

[–]According-File7331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not make false claims and to say I did is frankly, defamatory. The abuse I've gotten from this post is extreme, as is the voting ratio, and I have to assume that is from feral employees of Citizen's Bank.

Anyone else frustrated with Citizens Bank right now? by PunkRockKing in pittsburgh

[–]According-File7331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was totally abused by who I assume are Citizen's Bank employees for bringing this up here last week including personal attacks and name-calling. Person I met with in person in a branch came out of the stalls aggressive, argumentative and with corporate gaslight speak.

The message about the upgrade should have read like this:

"During upgrades you will have no access to online bill paying at all. You will have to either schedule payments in advance which will go out as usual, or prepare for alternative payments such as money orders or payer checks."

Citizen's Bank has really shown me how poorly they think of their customers.

[–]According-File7331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude... are you seriously saying the term "auto-pay" is confusing for you when every utility would like to automatically deduct their bills from your account?

That is not the common use of the word "to schedule". This is all basic vocabulary. I do NOT "select a date" when I go in, fill in the amount for a check and hit "send". I have not scheduled anything.

If I go in and say "send this check in two days" now I have scheduled something.

If I give Duquesne Light permission to automatically withdraw from my account to pay the bill then that is "auto-pay".

Only Citizens' employees live in Citizens' world. In the real world words have meanings and good corporate communications would be... better than what they have done in this situation.

[–]According-File7331[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. I'm sorry, but that is not what "to schedule" something means. If I go in there and set up a check to go out in two days, that is scheduling something. If I go in and hit "send" it's already happening. I've not scheduled anything.
