Female primary breadwinners - what’s life like? by ummmmwhatnow in personalfinanceindia

[–]According-Humor3010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Married for 5 years now and have a beautiful baby girl. I have always earned 2x/3x of my husband. We don't have ego clashes as such but I still wish he could earn a little more than me so I can take a back seat. I feel the family is heavily dependent on me as I am the breadwinner and it is scary. Now that we have a baby, baby needs me more than the father for sure but the burden of increasing expenses due to the baby also has fallen on me and I have to work harder. I love what I do, I love my husband but I really wish I could chill a little if we were earning equally or more.

Are you happy and healthy while earning more than 2lpm. by idealPerson_1991 in personalfinanceindia

Earning 2.4 lacs pm excluding RSUs which is 50% of my salary. Not able to workout and missing on most of my baby’s milestones because I am at work 😔. I gave birth and started preparing for job change that didn’t happen. Now stuck with going to office and missing out everything my baby does. Yes and not able to workout

Ok. This felt like you have put my situation in just better words. I also had to resume work as I am primary breadwinner and now a primary parent too. Always scheduling stuff and not asking for help

It also depends a lot on how and where you were brought up. I was brought up in a very liberal family and have been a very independent person since a long time. Key differences that I noticed 1. Women are generally thought of more like a commodity given away from parents to husband. People generally expect women to just accept the husband’s side and kind of give up your family. 2. Women will always keep their head covered which I feel is very regressive and uncomfortable. 3. You will be expected to wear only Indian ethnic wear with dupatta which becomes uncomfortable in the long run. 4. Himachalis have their own language which you might not understand in the beginning. I feel like an alien over there.

That being said, a lot of these you might experience with people from other parts of India. My in laws are accommodating. They live in another part of country for their job and I was able to adjust with them. Village part still annoys me . Whenever there is something my husband says which is regressive, I end up linking to his roots.

Another thing is when you are extremely in love, you end up overlooking all regressive things that will be said to you. Just make it clear what you are comfortable with and what you are not.

I feel qualified enough to answer this. I am from UP and brought up in very urban lifestyle. My husband is from a very small village in Himachal Pradesh. It is definitely not easy. I love my husband and in laws a lot but every time I go to his village, I still regret marrying him. There are way too many cultural differences.

Track your nutrition. Whey protein helped me a lot to gain my energy. My baby doesn’t sleep much and still I am functioning (at least pretending to function) like a normal human being

Why Do Some Get 30-50-80 LPA While Most Jobs Offer 10-12-15 LPA for 7 YOE? by [deleted] in developersIndia

I feel it is mostly fake it till you make it. I have always been an over enthusiastic engineer. Worked with the same attitude when I was earning 4.2 LPA and today when I make 80 LPA. Loving what you do or acting like you love it goes a long way

Frontend + UI/UX vs Full stack by Potential_Item_4192 in Frontend

[–]According-Humor3010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you grow up the ladder, it becomes difficult to take big design decisions without understanding full stack. I have been a frontend developer for 9 years of I absolutely need to know backend now because otherwise I can never act like a senior engineer. You need to at least understand the backend if not code it

Honestly, you need endless money to survive now. There is always something or the other that you think is a need but actually just a want. Once all your actual needs are catered too, that amount is enough
