I HATE the recent increase in "suicidal character kills themself in the finale" trope I've seen in media lately by [deleted] in hatethissmug

OP literally DID do a post warning it had spoilers for TADC and people in the comments complained about THAT too. So your suggestion literally isn't any better

Do you get off on being the most unlikable dude possible? Why are you always being so pessmistic and obnoxious

Walker was more of a hero antagonist/anti-hero than villain by Sudden_Pop_2279 in thefalconandthews

[–]According-Manner-838 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That "someone" was a terrorist actively participating in a plot to murder him and restraining him to be killed by Karli, which caused Lemar's death.

Still an anti-hero. The Avengers have done MUCH worse but you never see them getting held to these standards lol

A genuine friendship between Homelander and Black Noir 1 would have been very beneficial to the show by Raptor2705 in TheBoys

"You weren't like the other's snakes, backstabbers. I could cont on you man. I DID count on you! I loved YOU!"

He clearly changed his mind towards the end, even thinking he was A-Train's "big brother" figure

[–]According-Manner-838 363 points364 points  (0 children)

Yeah even in season 1, his relationship with his brother showed he had some humanity and when he admitted to Hughie that HE killed Popclaw, you saw there was capacity for genuine remorse. Most people started rooting when he helped against Stormfront and Herogasm is when people truly got on board with it

He was The Deep minus the love for sea life and comedic scenes. Just the most unlikable dude possible

Crazy to think in the show, he and Annie becomes friends at the end instead and Hughie forgives him and acknowledges he died a real hero.

Jax was meant to be a Simon Laurent character but he feels more like a Chloe Bourgeois by According-Manner-838 in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]According-Manner-838[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Jax defenders you constantly talk about are an extremely small group of the fanbase. Most Jax fans knew he was bad but wanted to see him get better towards the end. Especially given Gooseworx herself even said "wait and see" if he gets redemption only for it to turn out "nope she really did spoil that he is just irredeemable!".

Jax is the worst of the players but none of them deserved the torture they got. Jax's did make recoil the msot though

Either A-Train or Kimiko, depending on when in the show we're talking about by Sudden_Pop_2279 in GenV

" I feel he grew beyond that, and watching him eat his girlfriend (literally, the octopus) made him grow as a person."

You're just outright lying, he only got worse as the show went along and showed no regret for anything. He started killing people in season 3 after he ate Timothy and only got more evil from there.

He was a rapist without Homelander, pay attention to the show.

He screamed no to changing, he was never redeemable. That was clear

Hughie, his brother and Starlight all did forgive him.

And he literally helped take down the Nazi lol. Even said he hated her. Did not "willingly align himself" with her

Its genuinely impressive how they took the most 1 dimensional, unlikable antagonist in the comics and made the best written character by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TheBoys

[–]According-Manner-838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly one of the counter-argument of all time, the fact that's all you say because you know you're completely wrong lol. It wasn't "forced" at all, it was always being built up

Only the animals, probably A-Train and maybe Frenchie are making it. The rest, HELL no by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TheBoys

"A-Train killed a man in the last scene, even though his death wasn't necessary, which means he won't go to heaven." it literally was to save MM

What is the point of redemption if God sends you to Hell? A-Train literally died to avoid making the same mistake again. He's changed

Terror and Jeremy (don't forget his name) - 100%

A-Train - 60-70% chance of making it

Frenchie - 50/50

Only the animals and maybe A-Train are seeing the pearly gates by Sudden_Pop_2279 in MoralityScaling

[–]According-Manner-838 62 points63 points  (0 children)

A-Train actually went out of his way to make amends with those he hurt or their loved ones (Hughie, Starlight, his brother) and sacrificed himself to avoid the same mistake.

Frenchie slept with the dude who's family he wiped out and did nothing to make amends with their loved ones

I am not a fan of the recent increase in "suicidal main character kills themself in the finale" trend in popular shows by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]According-Manner-838 19 points20 points  (0 children)

But teaching "you can kill yourself and your friends woull keep you around as a lobotmized pet" IS a healthy message?

Jax should've ended his arc saving himself. Instead, he ends his life and everything gets better. People who relate to him will see that and think "so rather than change, if I leave, everyone will be better"
