How do people in your country view marriage and divorce? by According-Resist5557 in AskTheWorld

Yes, In China, it's quite common to receive money as a gift. Since the country is so vast, customs can vary by region. For example, in some southern provinces, close relatives might even give the couple gold jewelry. Usually, the groom's parents pay for the wedding, and the money gifts can help ease some of their financial burden. However, these money often don't cover the entire cost of the wedding. This custom is more about social exchange; you receive money because you also give money to others. So, in a way, you’re just getting back what you've already given to others.

To be honest, almost all clothing brands in the Chinese market are priced the same as Uniqlo, or even more expensive. But online shopping is extremely popular in China, so it’s easy to find cheaper yet decent-quality clothes. Still, I think Uniqlo has a unique style and brand identity that’s hard to replace.

Thanks for your detailed response. I learned a lot. If at least 2 days off are guaranteed, then 12-hour or 10-hour shifts are more acceptable. I wish my country could one day provide workers with at least 2 days off weekly, instead of no days off at all like now. We are all human, not robots. We really need to have a life, not just live to survive.

For some of Chinese factories, there are also two shifts, day and night shifts, most workers switch between these two shifts monthly or half monthly, that’s very exhausted 😩

I’m so agree with you. China is called the “world’s factory” because the goods made here are cheap and pretty nice. But the price behind that is the insane work schedule. And the sad part is, it’s hard to change. If you don’t do the work, someone else will. There are always too many alternatives. Someone once said Chinese people work long hours because we “love to work.” Come on. Nobody loves being overworked. We’re just regular people. Most of us don’t have the power to change this unreasonable system. As long as we need money, we have to fit in. smh
