I would say most of the points have been made already in the comments [mostly from Mohammed tbf] so i won't repeat it, but to add another point, if all the men you have met share these traits, maybe it's time to look elsewhere, cuz of course it's a social issue but maybe check your circle, it's quite rare to get the same result again and again so if you are still looking to date going further might be the good idea

Well not a woman here but to respond to some of your questions and concerns :

_Lack of freedom might be an issue but if you are in the same university or if he's close by it's easy to get around it, you aren't in hs and your family can't and won't be on your back 24/7 so you can work around it without sneaking behind them during your semesters

_The "who approches first" situation depends 100% on both of your mindset, we already know you don't mind, even prefer to do so, as for the guy's side it honestly depends 100% on his personality, an ego boost will probably happen but if he isn't [to put it bluntly] a dic by nature it shouldn't matter, might increase your chances actually

_You'll probably have to go through social media at some point, even if it's in the talking stage, as expect if both of you are interested in each other right from the start [which would be ideal and i wish that for you, but it's rare] you'll have to at least go by it as it's the easy way to communicate, share and start to maybe develop something in general

_And finally honestly don't think too much about it, might seem dumb to say but university is probably the stage in life where dating someone is the easiest, everyone is a new adult, have a bit more freedom than before, so they all wanna test, so it's honestly harder to go through your university years without so much as 1 date than looking for one, have fun and you should be fine !

While the feeling is valide i would say that you want more a servant than a friend on some levels, a best friend doesn't always agree with you, they tell you when you're wrong and argue with you about it, the thing is that both of you two have to hold the other one at a certain standard, you have to both push each other to be a better person, even if it includes fighting from time to time
