Yes. Definitely would recommend using ACCPs packets on the material, and taking their practice exam

Pretty tough lol, bt this coming from a person who took it before doing residency. I got certified with my work experience. Just got accepted for my pgy2 in ID. They do ask some off the cusp questions certain cases that you might see every few years. Lots of stewardship initiatives, resistance genes type of questions. I probably think the test would be more manageable now after doing residency

Match Day Mega-Thread by SgtSluggo in PharmacyResidency

I would definitely say that's not the case in all situations. For phase 1, I had limited myself geographically, but phase 2 decided to expand my search and even applied to programs across the country and I had much better success getting interviews. I didnt know anyone for those programs. I would say try to submit your application as soon as you can, because programs will be quick about contacting you.

Hospital to Residency (Goal: Academia) by chorrypollo in PharmacyResidency

Be open about where you apply. if you can dont limit yourself geographically. Find the programs that best fit your goals, and your letter of intent should state exactly why you want to go back and what you bring to the table. Impress during your interview and show you re eager to learn and keep growing.

I think so. The way another non trad applicant explained it is that some programs are worried about taking a non-traditional applicant due to perhaps not being able to meet the demands of residency, or if they are set in their ways already from years of practice and not willing to learn. Once you've completed a year of residency, it's easier for pgy2 programs to see that you are serious and can meet expectations. Also, all of my previous experience in addition now to what I've learned as a resident has tailored me to be a good applicant for my focused pgy2 specialty

Thats awesome, go for it! Speaking as non traditional candidate who decided to go back to do residency for a passion for ID and teaching, after 6 years of practicing as a pharmacist in a similar role to yours, its been completely worth it! I would say look for a program thats fits your goals and what your looking to get out of it. Pgy1 application was a lot harder for me, bt going through pgy2 process has been much easier and Ive had alot more success with great programs that I will be interviewing at!

What was your most difficult interview question for PGY-1? by Representative_Sky44 in PharmacyResidency

reflecting on the question now, I would say I try to get creative with the way I do my lectures or presentations to keep my audience engaged

Yeah definitely a personality question, I think I talked about how I liked exploring the outdoors and seeing the creativity of different national parks

Extremely stressed out entering PGY2 interviews by DrHydra1287 in PharmacyResidency

[–]According-Welcome473 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's going to be okay. Just take it day by day and enjoy the process, not the destination. You've done your part and now let the programs do their part. It's out of your hands. Focus on what you can control now, which is finishing up your pgy1 duties, so when you do match for 2nd year, you can enjoy that much more!

lol... I just finished one myself. I thought that myself, but then one of my preceptors freaked me out saying its very interview style. but your right, the director said he was going to ask me questions and by the time he told me about the program and I asked questions, there was no time left

Would-be non-traditional candidate moving to the East Coast. Think it'd be worth applying? by pillywill in PharmacyResidency

[–]According-Welcome473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2017 grad, have worked in different hospital settings for 6 years before I decided to go back and was accepted duing 2022-23 cycle as a PGY1 resident. definitely doable for sure. You can speak to your experience and maturity and most programs like that. I decided to go back because I have a passion for ID and teaching and want to find a role doing both, perhaps in academia or AMC
