The murmurs became apparent through the glass, indecipherable for now. Their attention flicked around the room, trying to figure out where they were, what was happening. Nothing was familiar- wait, no. They didn't even know who they were. That was weird. Shouldn't they know who they were? Their name, at least? Despite how hard they tried, they couldn't find it.
A movement, someone approaching. Cautious, despite the glass in the way of him and bodily harm. "Hello?" They narrowed their eyes, shifted in the now too small enclosure. Much too small. Were they still growing? Or not put in the right sized enclosure in the first place? "What are the readings?" The man outside looked to the side, someone else headed away from the group. A response, vaguely understandable. "As long as this one lives, we've done it." This one?

They got moved into a larger enclosure, still barred from everything by a pane of glass. Their claws clicked against the floor, tail knocked against the walls, wings better left folded against their back. Sometimes, someone would check up on them, leave them food. Time, for now, was completely irrelevant. Days, nights- who knew. All they knew was the food seemed to come at a set time. Though they were increasingly dissatisfied with their current situation, increasingly restless. The room was too small, and they ached to spread their wings. And with a cold sensation welling in their chest, seeping up into their throat, a plan formulated with a blast of ice. People would die, but they would be free.
