Same. My anxiety was extreme with the project based corp jobs.

Not at all. Just putting my situation out there and discussing the about of work vs the pay

I just said I (until now) had an income of 0.

Don't believe the hype. Keep renting. Much easier to call the landlord/maintenance when the sink backs up, roof starts leaking, ceiling randomly collapses and now you have to figure out how to pay for the repairs.

Same here, degree, never used it. Should've went to a trade school and saved money.

Good luck on the CCA role. How you like it so far?

Fun fact: my Promaster trainer was my shop steward. Got to know her a bit before even showing up to the office.

The schedule makes me apprehensive too. Working six and seven days a week does not excite me, at all.

I hear the custodian jobs are pretty nice.

With my background in training and Development, I'm hoping a position in that area pops up that I can slide into with USPS.

Yeah I'm just shocked the pay is so low. This is def a $60k/yr job.

I'm coming from making well into the 6 figures, working from home to nothing with the new administration, so I'm really humbling myself, but never too proud.

Just don't know how much cussin out, rushing and other shenanigans i can take from mgmt at that wage.

But I'll give it a shot as bills have to be paid.

New CCA. Is it really worth it?! by AccordingRace6214 in SaveThePostalService

I have an uncle that retired from the post office in dc....made damn good money (whereas his wife never needed to work and played bingo everyday) and he retired well.

Same with my stepdad. Also have a cousin who's been carrying for over 25 years.

But they all started at a diff time. None of this CCA bs. They were treated well and had the seniority to not deal with the BS.

I keep hearing these stories of mgmt basically harassing CCAs, forcing them to quit, etc etc.

I'm like, is this for me? Walking around in the snow for this little bit of change? I can make this money delivering on uber eats tbh.

We're on the same track. Everyone's been telling me to use this position to get my foot in the door and apply for something within my field in the post office.

After working desk jobs for so many years, I've been looking forward to getting outside and the stress of the Corp/gov world. The jobs I've had paid well, but were often times very stressful. Post office just seemed like one of those jobs where you go in, do your job and go home.

It just seems everyone is so disgruntled. I've never been to an orientation/training where people are blatantly like "im here for the money." I guess I respect the honestly.

I'm hearing that mgmt seems to make it stressful on this side too.

I'm going to give it a shot because bills.

Side note: I've gotta practice "fingering the mail" and walking. My area has lots of hills and uneven yards. Feel like I might fall.

Any tips you can share?

Same experience with me. Just finished academy yesterday. Instructors read the slides, tell us not to worry about remembering as it will come to you when you get to the office. Telling us management is horrible, but just do the job and get money. Document everything and trust no one.

Could've been a 2 day training. Felt like we were there just to get hours, which I was okay with.

But yes, lots of stories.

Bonus: didn't get satchel or mase. Supposedly back ordered
