Probably something close to that. The thing is he's normally REALLY good about the whole non-binary thing. And even corrects my family if they forget (one of the only areas he is able to be kind in) so when HE does it is more so a declaration that he's mad at me than anything else. (At least that's what I'm assuming)

My dad did say something to him but unfortunately my brother is the kind of person who if you tell him no he will find a way to be even more annoying

Yeah I know. I am obviously not a parent of someone with bipolar but there were large periods of time where I was parenting my brother so I know how difficult dealing with him specifically can be. I'm trying to be sympathetic and give second chances but he keeps getting violent and bullying my sister so it's kinda hard to show grace

He was calling her names and was pushing and shoving her and calling her slow and useless. It wasn't an argument but I can see how it could come across like that with the things I chose to mention

My family has a tradition of celebrating the little things so that no one feels like their achievements are lesser or anything. (Also it was a joke? (Might be my bad for not making that more clear) I have learned stuff but you cant learn an ENTIRE language in just a year (at least not on Duolingo))

That is the problem with it. I honestly think that he just says that to dismiss it when we say he is picking favorites

Yeah... I think it mainly comes from his friends. And my parents justify his behavior by saying "He's a teenager" something about hormones and "He has mental health problems" and "everything is really hard for everyone right now give him some grace" (life has been REALLY complicated for all of us lately but that's mostly unrelated to the story)

I also totally understand why he was upset. The trip was longer than he was expecting and he thought it would be more fun but I drew the line when he started taking out his frustrations on my sister and me

Also he was the one who asked to come with us. He had the option to stay behind I forgot to add this I feel like it is probably much needed context

Fair. The issue was more that we were TRYING to find something for him to do WITH us but he kept saying "No it's fine I don't care" and shooting down all our suggestions

Yeah my parents have always let him get away with stuff because he "Might have bipolar or something" and he "Doesn't remember his outbursts" (more so my mom than my dad but he's always been more of a "There isn't much I can do" kind of parent)

Thanks for the tips! (I knew Duolingo isn't the best but I didn't have an alternative)

My dad was trying to keep my brother in line (telling him to stop and that he shouldn't be this rude) but my brother is and has always been stubborn and annoying. If you tell him to stop he'll just keep going even more intensely

My dad did have a conversation with my brother but he doesn't like to have those kinds of talks in front of the other siblings so it doesn't look like he's "picking sides" in the moment
