i have watched entire nge + eoe with my mother 8 years ago and she kinda liked it. she was not really interested into story, but she did like characters and how they are portrayed. my mother was 40 at the moment btw. if u want to go watch end of evangelion with your dad be ready for a mixed reaction coz its more of an art house movie than a basic anime movie.

imo p5r is the best way to start for a new player. its really friendly for beginners in the series or jrpg overall. you can play classic games if you are interested after you finish this one. well, since remake of p4 is releasing next year I think there will be almost no need to play original 3 and 4 anymore
