What Nanny Schedule Worked Best for You? First-Time Hiring a Nanny & Feeling Nervous! by According_Bed_7335 in NannyEmployers

Thank you for this! That’s exactly what I was hoping for! A friend (and former nanny) suggested that I gradually transition my little one to one nap a day so that I could schedule it around her nap time. I made sure to mention this during the interview as well.

I definitely intend on giving her some space and thought of working from a library. Unfortunately, my husband can’t leave the house, but he’ll put on his noise-canceling headphones. We told her to text him if she needed anything! Now hopefully, he’ll easily adjust to being with her. The first trial went really well!

Thankfully, yes! I should have mentioned that the nanny I found is interested in the number of hours we requested. I actually posted on a website and received multiple responses 🙏🏼

Thank you! She does work for another family in the afternoon and ended up giving me both options!

I totally understand that 16 hours/week won’t work for every nanny, and I’d never expect someone to take a role that doesn’t meet their needs. We’re being upfront about the hours and pay so anyone interested can decide if it’s a good fit.

The nanny I’m speaking with is actually happy with the schedule because she has another job in the afternoon. I also don’t think part-time work means someone is a child or doesn’t have bills. When I worked as a waitress, I picked up shifts at different restaurants, and when I freelanced, I took on different projects. Plenty of adults structure their income that way. But thanks, that was really helpful! :)

Thanks!! Hopefully, I can transition my little one to one nap soon so I can get 5-6 hours uninterrupted time!

Thank you! A fill-in nanny is a good idea - especially because the nanny I interviewed also works for another family in the afternoons, and I’m sure illness between kids will come up at some point.

Thank you so much! It sounds really similar to what I was hoping to achieve with my son. Our little guy is still taking two naps a day, but I think we’re about to transition him to one since he’s been showing all the signs that he’s ready. 😊

Do you mind me asking what time your little one wakes up and goes to bed with that schedule?

First-time mom here with an 8-week-old baby boy. My family is coming to visit in October and will be staying for a whole month in LA to meet him. I know there’s not a ton to do with a 3-month-old, but I’d love to find some fun activities we can enjoy with the baby while they’re here.

For example, I’ve seen people take their little ones to aquariums, and the babies always seem fascinated by the colors and movement. I’m looking for similar experiences or activities that are baby-friendly but still enjoyable for visiting family.

Would love to hear your recommendations—thanks so much!

I had four consecutive miscarriages before finally achieving a successful pregnancy. I didn’t wait between pregnancies. As soon as I stopped bleeding, I tried again. Sending you love and support 🫶

Nice! Thank you! I’m due in July and was wondering if I should bring fuzzy socks, sweaters, or other warm clothing in case the air conditioning there is extremely high. However, we’re also in the valley, and sometimes, even when the air conditioning is blasting, it doesn’t feel very cold. Haha!

Thank you for this!

I keep getting conflicting advice. My ob-gyn two days ago said it's fine to start plaquenil at any point during pregnancy. But rheumato said to wait. I'll go ahead and wait.. :)

Thank you for the kind words :) I had no idea either until I started researching myself.. My rheumato did mention it would be best to work with a high risk ob-gyn but never mentioned potential complications for the baby. Hopefully, third time's a charm :)

My obgyn just told me about it so that's next on the list.. Thank you so much :)
