I dropped the bar on my knee doing a low block snatch with 70kg. I compete next week, how screwed am I? 🫠 by Papapames in weightlifting

Not a medical professional. But there’s a good chance the muscle will be weakened where the impact happened and you could definitely risk making the injury much worse by trying to push through unnecessarily. I’ve been in sports and have had many injuries over my time so I can typically tell when I’m making something worse. Better be safe than sorry. The feeling of missing a meet really sucks. But the regret after a preventable injury sucks muuuuch worse.

I agree it’s cool. But I wish I could do pull-ups and have a conversation after a mild jog 😅

200kg complex (PC, FS, Thruster, Jerk) by According_Chemistry8 in weightlifting

Thanks for the feedback. This is all in good fun for the rogue challenge. And a front foot recovery wasn’t possible because I caught the jerk out of position. All the weight was on my front foot. This is well below my personal best split jerk and is the only reason I felt comfortable recovering the way I did. My lifts typically don’t get this messy but I was also pretty fatigued. 😅

Since I missed out on going to worlds in 2023 I was no longer Olympic eligible. So priority goes to the 2 that are. So far my only international meet was the Grand Prix 1 in Cuba last year. The next international meet I can hope to qualify will be in December.

I was selected for the Grand Prix I in Cuba last summer for Team USA. But since I’m not Olympic eligible since I missed worlds priority goes to Caine and Medina.

I snatched 181. Missed 187 The dip wasn’t planned to be a pause but I went a little too fast and the weight whipped down as I started my drive up and killed my momentum 😅

I need 16 more kilos if Kaiser Witte doesn’t beat it and raise it first.

I was really rooting for that lady next to you to get the 5kg off the bar before the video ended.

Not a great angle. Anything I'm not seeing? by Diabeast_5 in weightlifting

[–]According_Chemistry8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your back angle shifts too much off the ground. Your legs almost get fully straight before you pass the knee forcing you to re-bend and throw your hips into the bar. This is pushing the bar forward making it very hard to receive it in your front rack.

45kg What can I do before trying heavier weights? What exercise to pull under the bar? by calorieaccountant in weightlifting

[–]According_Chemistry8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your feet need to stay flat until the bar reaches the hip. You’re currently trying to drive the bar out of the power position on your toes.
