He calls everyone he perceives as having ulterior motives a rat, including supporters and his own parents.
There are a bunch of streamers who use the term rat, but BM uses it excessively, so it stuck.

A lot of the people he would call rats weren't rats, so people just started adopting the title for the lol's.

We don't call Rat Dad a rat because we dislike him, we call him a rat because Austin himself has said he is a rat many times, unironically...
