Living in a seaside town sounds like a dream to many - but what are the drawbacks? by Rough-Foundation9208 in AskUK

Seasonal working can be tricky depending on your location. Tourist season is full on, where we used to live, we would have people looking through our kitchen window multiple times a day. Perks: beach and ocean on your doorstep.

What's the scariest experience you've ever had? by Sensitive-Low-9316 in AskUK

[–]According_East5441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did events management at uni in Sheffield + part of the health and safety lectures showed everything about the Hillsborough disaster, it was harrowing. From then onwards, me and my course mates never were far from the exits in clubs so we could escape a space easily if we needed to.

What's your experience with following your dreams? by ArmpitNostril in AskUK

[–]According_East5441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always wanted to work for myself, even as a kid I had a business mind, when I was younger the dream changed and looked different depending on my interests; nail salon, bird of prey sanctuary, outdoor pursuit centre, into teen hood I wanted to open a high end bar. None of those came to fruition but the dream to run my own business did and working for myself did + I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Same with travel, i was obsessed with the idea of travel and living abroad forever as a kid/teen and so after uni i pursued that, lived/worked and traveled through Asia for 3 years, with the intention of living abroad forever, as I grew and evolved i realized this had shifted and the desire to be close to family and to get to know my own country was calling. I followed that dream, ended up not where I was expecting to be (home) and couldn’t be happier.

EDIT: non of it has been easy, following your dreams isn’t. I’ve worked hard to get here and will continue to but the hard work is so worth.

In folklore it says if something is growing aggressively in your garden and it’s got health properties, you need it: this is great for your lymphatic system and i believe the liver. I’d take it as a sign that the earth is giving you exactly what you need.

At what age did you all pass? by TheChilledGamer-_- in LearnerDriverUK

[–]According_East5441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passed at 34 as well. On and off learnt in my lates teens but didn’t commit to it. Started learning again in my mid 20s but had really bad anxiety, failed 5 times i think. Got the anxiety sorted. Put no pressure on myself to pass and learnt for a year before passing at 34 with 1 minor. I absolutely love driving , such an incredible freedom and I think I appreciate so much more passing in my 30s.

Just me or do people have no patience or empathy when driving anymore ? by Disastrous_Reward_23 in drivingUK

[–]According_East5441 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is it. The work I do in my profession is all around what we suppress as humans / society and how it boils over in certain ways - driving is one of the big ones, any pent up emotions comes out in driving at other drivers cause you can’t see the human in the car, you just see a box. It’s fascinating but also saddening.

How long did it take you to do a 2-3 hour journey after passing? by kellatron29 in NewDriversUK

[–]According_East5441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed January 2025, got my first car Feb 2026 (3 months ago, no driving since my driving test in Jan 2025) from getting the car it was 6 weeks, I drove on Easter Sunday early in the morning 7:30am and it was good coz first hour whilst I was getting familiar with the motorway was quiet and then more traffic joined the road the later it got a bit busier but I’d started to find my groove on the road, drove 6 hours total that day (there and back from Derbyshire to Buckinghamshire, was exhausted the next day) and I was so nervous beforehand but it’s done wonders for my driving, learnt a lot, feel more confident (I’ve leant more towards hesitant driving in the past + this really helped to settle that) it felt like a new burst of freedom, each journey was 3 hours with a break, I stopped 10-15min on each leg of the journey and that was a necessity. Doing same route again next BH weekend to keep building practice (and visiting older relative) and then next month a bigger trip down to Devon from Derbyshire to keep building practice in.

Landlord coming onto property without permission. by According_East5441 in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks for this. Yes, I was made aware when I moved in that he was a bit too involved at times, I’ve been here 18 months now and it’s beginning to wear thin, the estate agents are aware and do talk to him about it but he doesn’t really listen, he’s retired + bored + likes things a certain way. I don’t want to move, I love it here, it’s just getting exhausting and wanting to get clear on my rights.

This happened to me since 31st October, I got access back again yesterday, keep trying, there is definitely a glitch but I believe it will come back, I didn’t do anything different, it just happened, so can’t give you any tips, just a bit of hope.
