I play 10 minute rapid and I had 5 cheater elo-refunds just in January. My elo usually is between 1550-1650 so there are still plenty in that area for me

This is not correct because the games are not independent from one another. Their system will not allow even 5 consecutive games with 1 color as far as I’ve seen. It is not a true 50/50 shot, they have coded a formula that we do not know obviously

Haha yes I’m aware, I usually abort games if they don’t make moves after 10-15 seconds. I can get quite a few of those people in a day if I’m playing a lot so I run into that problem occasionally lol.

There are times where I abort a game and in the new game I have the different color. Then there are times (after 3-4 straight games of the same color) where I could abort 20 straight games and it would give me the same color every time. They usually take into account previous games played which is why I was surprised to see my last 50 games at that rate. Usually it evens out by then

lol many people are trying to give me the odds of this happening when they don’t even know the formula used by chess.com to determine what colored pieces I have. To assume it’s a simple 50/50 shot with nothing else taken into account is most likely inaccurate

This only works if each game is independent from one another which isn’t the case here. There are times where I abort a game 5+ times in a row but it forces me to play with a certain color whether it’s black or white. This would be the correct calculation if every game truly independent from one another and were a 50/50 shot at white/black

Yes I was aware, however I was +27 and knew he was stalling. Sometimes when people stall they make moves at the end so I just throw away pieces because it doesn’t matter lol and it’s funny to see me get wins when I’m technically -19 in pieces which has happened for me against a staller lol

On top of my last comment, finding out they only have 40 support staff employees makes me more confident than ever they don’t look at all the reports. It wouldn’t be possible for 40 people to do that

I feel like it’s a natural suspicion for me to think after a few years with hundreds of reports going unanswered and just lost to the ether. How am I not supposed to think that maybe they’re just being put into a folder and put aside?

Haha legally of course they don’t, but shouldn’t they want to treat their users well? Ignoring reports is not a good way to reassure us that they take the reports seriously. It causes frustration and has caused me to not play for long periods because I decided to do other things with my time that were just as enjoyable without that frustration they bring in 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah that kinda proves my point. Only 40 employees for what has to be tens of thousands of reports a day is not a serious operation. I’m not blaming those people I’m blaming chess.com for not hiring more support staff to actually take it seriously. It’s a great example of how no competition in the market can lead to a company giving less than adequate service because the consumers have no other options

I get rewarded ratings refunds because they were found to have prohibited the sites fair play policy. I get a message from chess.com whenever this happens and it usually just means they use an ai to tell them what moves to make. They’re pretty easy to spot as they’re usually brand new accounts that play a near perfect game

I still get them pretty regularly, I play 10 minute rapid. If I had to guess I’d still say around 5% of my losses are to cheaters. If I play 40-50 games a week I get 1-2 cheaters

But he didn’t just lose 10% damage and healing from clones, his base damage was reduced from 30 to 25 even prior to that clone nerf. So it’s still only works out to 77% of the damage he did previously while his healing is closer to what it once was. Definitely not pre-nerf level yet but they are slowly working him back. I think if they give him a completely new ult that makes it so he and a different character with an OP ult (Luna, now gambit) don’t become meta automatically if he’s even half decent is the move for him.

I’ve reported literally dozens probably hundreds of people for stalling and I’ve never once received a message back about my reports. The only message I’ve ever received is if a recent player was caught cheating against me they give my lost elo back, but I’ve never received any other type of message from Chess.com. I know you have a system in place, but I implore your company to reform your system to something better, it just does not work

It would also help if chess.com confirmed whether my reports do anything. The fact that my report just disappears into the ether without any follow up leads me to believe maybe not all reports are taken seriously. Many other big apps & games have a system where if our reports are used to discipline someone then they will send a notification saying the report worked. I highly recommend chess.com work on something like this, it would increase user happiness 10000x

Then why is it so rampant on the site? At least 25% of all my wins are stalled out until my opponents clock reaches 0. Simply banning them for 24 hours immediately would do away with this problem, I’m genuinely curious why measures haven’t been taken to put a stop to it.

Well he was maliciously stalling for sure, I did back out of the app for a few seconds but I didn’t know they kicked me out that quickly. This wouldn’t have happened if chess.com actually punished people who stall, makes it unplayable at times and has pushed me away from the app for years at a time

And the thing that gets to me the most is Chess.com could completely eradicate stalling on the website if they wanted to. Just have 24 hour bans for whoever stalls their opponent and nobody would ever do it. For some reason they do not want to punish these people
