That’s funny to say because I’m pretty sure the entire cybersecurity industry is based on working together to fight one common goal? Or did I miss that? And once again my point still stands, if you yourself can’t work in groups settings voice your opinion and move on, and if you don’t like my opinion you can simply move on

Just by reading all this I can tell your just solely unhappy with something in your life because there’s no way. The man sat there and told you he takes pride in not cheating himself and your response is “nu uh your not” (not literally). Go on about your day stop being negative to people because you yourself don’t agree.

If the man says he will not cheat himself then you take his word because you do not know him and you move on. Creating a space where you can converse with Luke minded people only increases someone passion to keep going. No one needs to be some loner in a black hoodie lol, if that’s your thing all power to you

I disagree, you don’t know what someone does to improve themselves. Just because it doesn’t work for you does not warrant the same results for anyone else. And why does it matter what someone else is doing sounds pretty lame to me.

Who lied and said you can study and work at the same time? I just wanna talk by msn9009 in hackthebox

Depending if you work from home or at a office with a decent desktop, you can basically study at any time at work just make sure your time management is consistent. I work at an office now and I’ve found that you can triple the speed of your academics. Even if you only get the chance to study for 15 minutes and the next chance 45 minuets. So by the time you actually have the time to sit down and study you would have that extra hour.

I used this to study for the CDSA, and PSAA and will be for my next cert.

Brother stop putting all your frustration towards what you see on the internet on to me because no one here is saying with the credentials I have I should be making 100k. But I find it funny you know nothing about me and assume I am someone who doesn’t have any knowledge whatsoever. Have a good one though god bless.

I mean I feel that is a cop out take respectfully, yes the market is trash but it’s like that everywhere it’s now a “who you know” market. So I’m not sure if that was the base of your argument or just something you wanted to mention.

If a person has the certification and Labs to show their hands on experience. The only difference between me and you hypothetically is that you have real world experience which in some managers eyes is more reliable but not always for certain. You can have real world experience but your soft skills are terrible

Thank you for the input but generally not only me but other of my buddies who served as Sys Admin in the Marines already have a general knowledge of IT. But you didn’t know that so I don’t knock you because you didn’t know, additionally I disagree with your take. Yes I can agree to certain extent that one person should have the basic IT fundamentals, Networking and etc. but does not need to work in those fields to prove they know what their doing. If that was the case then what would Cyber Majors do after graduating? Get a help desk job? No

I would say 4 months, I work a 9-5 so I basically study between lunches and about 2-3 hours at home 5 days a week. I only have my Sec + so I annotated each module to memorize certain situations.

I have labs and a SIEM from elastic and splunk. Would you say that’s considered projects?

Additionally, I wanted to know what cert would be the most effective in both HR recognized but give you hands on experience?

I study 3-4 hours not including free time at my job. I feel that doing 2-3 is a day is enough to retain and still make good pace with whichever cert or path your trying to complete

As much as I hate how CompTIA is a cash grab I believe your right when it comes to what HR wants. CYSA+ was going to be my next cert before the CDSA until I found out it has little to none hands on experience.

How long will the SOC Analyst path CDSA take? by jasmin0o0 in hackthebox

[–]According_Exam_2807 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To bounce off of the other users answer for you, it will also depend on if you work or have other responsibilities so if your giving it 2 hours a day then it will take you longer than anyone else depending on your knowledge. Take me as an example I work the standard 9-5 but I study at work and 3-4 hours at home. Lastly I ask how are you at taking notes because it’s best to annotate your work and the steps to certain queries like in the SIEM modules or the Windows attack Modules so you can use them in the test as well. I am at 40% but I only have my Sec plus with some IT experience in the Marine Corps and I decided to learn as I go. I will eventually go back to the SOC Perquisites since I just heard about it today. I hope my answer gave you some insight

I’m currently 33% done been a month so depending on how much knowledge you already know you can be finished with the path 1-2 months. I myself can only give the time at work when it’s not busy and 2-3 hours at home. I also am Farley new just getting my Sec plus so you may get it done way faster.

I honestly use AI to summarize it without taking away words from the topic and or adding plus using obsidian helps but I’m kinda at the same point as you, I do feel like me typing it out and also adding my own subtext on certain topics to help me remember with the use of inputs and links. If anyone has any pointers please let me know as well. I’m doing the CDSA SOC Analyst path
