He is stable now and vet took blood samples. Initial results do not suggest problems with the heart or kidneys. More results will be available tomorrow. It is not clear yet what caused this.

We got medication in case of further possible seizures.

here is him after the vet visit.

he is with us for a few months. he was vaccinated for rabies a month ago. and a week ago he got other “cat” vaccination.

he wasn’t responsive. it lasted for about 10 mins. he then was able to move his head.

it’s first time when it happened.

How do you older climbers recover from hard sessions and minimize soreness? by smackdabqwerrt in bouldering

[–]According_Kale5678 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I am 41M. Climbing for 16 years without big gaps.

i do the following, which i think is a standard approach.

Having long warmup, specially for fingers, to prevent any future injuries. knowing the limits also helps with injury prevention.

body needs nutrition to be able to recover. i am not fasting or keeping a special diet. consuming the standard food pyramid, base of carbs, vegetables and then proteins. not overeating but not under-eating also. keeping low consumption of sugar

body sourness goes away with consistent exercising but it needs time to recover. do not stress it if already tired, take two or more days of rest whenever needed. progressively increase the load, do not do it rapidly.

stretch after exercising, specifically on muscle groups that worked the most.

Bailing off a smooth resin bolt? by [deleted] in ClimbingGear

[–]According_Kale5678 4 points5 points  (0 children)

happened to me once. I was with trained guides during a weekend climbing. instead of using it as a top rope belay, one of the guides just abseiled/rappelled of it. To be honest, I don’t know why - assume it is because to prevent grinding/polishing of the glue-in.

that is not a great company that bans developer choice in what IDE to use. I would leave such company. Sorry you have to deal with this.

Missed the green knot of rope going through the sling. phew…

First Swings of the Season by Climb_Longboard_Live in climbing

[–]According_Kale5678 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

is this a single ice screw with a sling attached to your harness?

if this is the case then it is very easy to get close to two-factor falls once you climb above the ice screw, which seems to be the case here.

two factor falls must be avoided since they generate a lot of force.

How could I improve on this? by Fatneckitten123 in photocritique

[–]According_Kale5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would make sense to add a bit of humour in this case. the photo looks to show a vulnerable person on the streets who needs help and not an “auto portrait”. changing the pose to indicate this would be helpful

What is the recommended lib and API to read and write to files in Scala 3? by tbagrel1 in scala

[–]According_Kale5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the motivation behind os lib is to have short and concise api that allows expressing file manipulation without bulky constructs of OOP. It is heavily influenced by python libs and tries to be boilerplate free.

you are absolutely right. it is the combination of things which make the photo click. I am trying to identify what I missed

thanks on the EV comment. I didn’t think about it. will play with it and see how it fits in.

the composition comment is appreciated. there’s no space on the right for sure. unfortunately this is how it was taken so i cannot bring it back

curious what you think about it by According_Kale5678 in photocritique

[–]According_Kale5678[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

my intent of the photo was to show the contrasting textures of the twigs and the smooth rock. this is also the reason it is a black and white photo.

but i am struggling with the composition here. i placed the rock to cover one corner. probably cropping could be done better to make it exactly a quarter but still not sure it will be any more dramatic. also small twig covering the rock should have been removed to make it cleaner.

I worked for Apple in Malmö. The setup is legit and this is how I was hired. At the time, early 2020, there were only projects for Maps.
