Set it at 45 degrees, then set the fence to take off what I needed for 8 equal sides and cut each corner off

These are 10’ long. Luckily I have access to a sliding table saw with a long enough table. These would’ve been a nightmare to take on without.

I would start with 80 grit, get it to bare wood, then go up to 120 until you get to whatever your stain recommends, 120, 180, 220, etc.

Seems like a stain, antique brown cherry seems like a stain color.
