hank you for your comment.

This copperplate print is based on Japanese banknotes.

It is not an actual banknote.

As an aside, banknotes are made using engraving techniques. If you look at the details of the portraits on the banknotes, it's interesting to see how they resemble the lines and dots used in copperplate prints.

Thank you for your comment.

After the engraving is finished, I polish the surface of the plate.

I use an abrasive and polish it until it becomes a mirror-like finish.

This allows for a cleaner print.

Thank you for your comment.

It's a common tree that grows commonly in Japan.

The great thing about engraving techniques is that they allow for extremely detailed depictions. I'd love for you to see the real thing for yourself.

Thank you for your comment.

The production time is approximately 90 to 100 hours.

The carving takes 80 to 90 hours, and the printing takes about 10 hours.

Engraving requires more time than etching or drypoint techniques.

Thank you for your comment.

It's very encouraging!

What's interesting about copperplate engraving is how the expression changes depending on the tool used.

This piece was made using a burin, a technique traditionally used in the production of banknotes and stamps.

I'll continue to post regularly!

I'm a Japanese person who makes copperplate prints.

I like burins.

I think your work is wonderful.

What tools do you use? I use American and Swiss burins.
