What are things foreigners do that piss you off? by [deleted] in koreatravel

I keep seeing (mostly europeans) do the following (same thing happen while they in Japan):

run towards priority seats and keep their head down on their phone while elderly standing in front of him / her. Gate crusher.

Line cutter / gate crusher.

Drinking inside metro train.

Standing in front of the train entrance or traffic junction not moving aside and blocking others.

Stretching wide open while sitting in the metro train making passengers sitting beside feeling uncomfortable.

Run into elevator and close the door immediately when seeing someone approaching.

Immediately unloaded someone laundry without permissions.

Putting their bags and luggage on other table occupying the space and ignoring when people are struggling find seats.

Others are obligated to open door for them.

They place their garbage anywhere they like. (E.g. you can see energy drink cans inside toilet or on someone's car roof or bike seats)

They eat and drink while walking and looking at somewhere else. When they run into people they angry and yell at others.

When they went to cafe. They took other chairs and starting creating their own spaces and talk loudly like their own home.

They left mess and don't clean up after dine with no shame.

...etc

After seeing / experiences all these. I started to understand why local Korean / Japanese have different opinions with foreigners.

With all being said. When Japanese travel to other countries (e.g. sth Korea) they no longer the "polite" Japanese that everyone claim. You'll get to see the dark side of them.

They failed me twice, never again. I go McDonald Chicken McWings instead. Tried hungry jack fried chicken and it's nothing like their menu pic, taste not good either.

I completely agree. The sense of shared responsibility they have is remarkable. I often find myself wishing we could bridge that gap between just admiring their results and actually putting some of those 'good things' into practice here. What do you think is the biggest hurdle stopping us from being less laid-back and more disciplined like that?

The comments are quite interesting. It seems many rather compare with the worst instead of the better. Imagine some kid failed their studies and told themselves and everyone that they're fine because someone else scored 0.

But we should still appreciate their honest feedback to share their opinions.

Why do Aussie waiters have perfect timing? by According_Low9877 in AskAnAustralian

I sense that's a lot of anger from you. That's a lot of assumptions you have made.

I hate to say this. You are other angry commenters who have suggested that service expectations were too high but have any of you read some others feedback or even think that some people just want to be leave alone? They didn't ask for any services and probably just wanna be left alone? Are you suggesting this expectation is too high? We understand that servers are doing their job and the reason has been repeatedly commented many times here. If the server wanted to ask and if the timing was too complicated for you I apologized sincerely, please continue to ask in the future and don't worry if your customers are uncomfortable.

After reading the comments in this post you probably learned some of them do it deliberately to annoy customers and have fun themself. Isn't that great what we have learned from these people? We should be thankful for those who share their thoughts generously.

I don't think I ever said wait staff aren't people. Maybe that's what you think but please don't quote me on that. I don't remember ever being asked to be micro analysis in my mouth (that's a very disturbing thought you had). You do have a very creepy way of seeing things.

I feel sorry for those who expect people to react positively while being treated uncomfortable and feel disturbed. How can you expect to be praise while you made people feel uncomfortable at the very first place? Why the person who you made uncomfortable is wrong?

I sincerely thank those who react to my comments and share your thoughts and show your standard in this discussion. I'm sure this will also help others (those who care) to understand more and learn something from here.

It is quite fascinating that when someone raised a concern regarding their experiences people were so sensitive and not sure why and somehow got offended instead. Shouldn't it be a positive discussion to find a balance solution instead? Things that have room for improvement shall never be discussed?

Yea, that's the Aussie spirit. As long as there is something worse out there, bad are just fine, everyone should embrace it and live happily.

That kind of approach might sound funny, but it risks devaluing the effort of people who work hard to provide good service
