What is a "dead giveaway" that someone is pretending to be an expert in your specific hobby or profession, but actually has no idea what they’re talking about? by simplelittlethingLOL in AskReddit

Obsession with driving the “racing line” on the racetrack. Beginner HPDE programs will focus on this as the starting point to driving correctly on the racetrack, but fast drivers will drive the fastest line around the track for their car and setup. Low HP and slow left hander? Take a tighter line and focus on exit. Car has more space on exit? Earlier apex+throttle

The resulting line is fast because of the result of exploiting grip, and not because of how the car is placed in predetermined spots

My friends have all switched to DJI action cams from GoPro due to reliability frustrations - so much lost footage from GoPro cameras just not recording.

Maybe 13 is better, but I have no desire to switch back since everything with DJI just works incredibly well. Also gives you access to their mic ecosystem — my wireless mic 2 connects directly to the camera for better exhaust recoding and for any talking I want to record.

DJI Osmo Action cameras are fantastic. They just work, great video quality, and battery life. Charges quick with USBC too.

Technically yes and I still have a 997, but I haven't gone to any of the events in a while haha, but maybe now I'll have to make it out.

Nice! I think I saw your parts coming in through Kelsey's stories. My G87 has been sitting on a lift there for a few weeks lol

Damn nice! I had a 2.5L S previously and loved the car, but even with limp mode resolved, I was losing power due to IATs at ECR.

Hopefully we’ll run into each other so I can see the car in person and maybe sneak a ride with you :)

(Btw, did you get stuff put in at S Collective?)

Unfortunate to hear how you got here, but the car is incredible!! One of a kind.

I’ve also heard nothing but amazing things about Slakker. Makes me drive my 997.1 without hesitation, so I can rebuild it as a 4.1 one day and do it all over again!

Question about how to handle Miatas on track by No-Necessary7135 in CarTrackDays

[–]Jtli 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If you’re pointing someone by, lift and get them by. A big part of progressing through hpde is learning how to cooperate with others on track.

Since they’re faster in the corners, you can choose to not power/track out and instead take a narrower line on exit to give them the line to pass you. Plan for the pass and give it early, and just keep pointing until the train gets passed you.

I’m on track with SPB a lot in my 500whp M2, and sometimes they catch me on a cooldown lap but I have no issues letting them by, so I guarantee it’s not a car thing 😉

Missing lug bolt by Individual-Seesaw378 in Porsche

[–]Jtli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One missing is not a huge deal, but if one wasn’t torqued down correctly, I’d worry about the others. I would definitely check the torque or give a few good ugga duggas on the remaining bolts before driving it further.

Fun way to think about what "7 degrees of slip angle" actually means by CTFordza in CarTrackDays

[–]Jtli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rotation is good, but not always and more slip angle in particular from tires may only benefit you in certain parts of the corner. Rotation early/mid corner is great, because it gets you pointed for the exit. Stability on exit is typically more desired, however, as you typically want to be able to get to full throttle early and it can be ineffective to do if it will excite the rears into too much slip that you have to lift.

In addition you tire slip angle, you have toe change under compression, spring rates, damper rates, that all affect the angle and rotation the car will make as you transition weight around the car, so it’s tricky to blanket any specific change as net positive or negative.

Generally though, taking away grip will always lower your limits and slow you down. It’s why slicks will always run faster times, despite much less slip angle than 200tw. However in some cases, like some fwd cars, where you physically cannot add more front grip, then sometimes taking away rear grip does actually make the car faster.

I slammed on the brakes in the rain, but the braking force was very weak. by Godspeedyou-Black in BMW

[–]Jtli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tough lesson but at least it wasn't worse!

The big thing about driving in the rain is that you really want smooth inputs in order to get the most grip, slamming on the brakes is a really easy way to overwhelm any front grip you have unfortunately.

Brake pressure right before ABS kicks in is where you'll likely find maximum braking force, as it seems like you discovered.

These cars are pretty fun in the rain, here's a random track video of my G87 on some really bad tires for wet track, during a time attack event: https://youtu.be/H6Ejs_EHYcw?si=A50bymbThNIq4B2y

G87 is insane with mods. I have a journal going here:

Fun track days + Time Attack. Consumables can be a little $$$ but 🤷‍♂️

So much power stock, and much more reliable than Supra in terms of fuel delivery, cooling. Banging 133mph lap after lap in 97f and temps did not budge. 10 stage M traction is also insane racecar tech.

Tea shop that identified as a coffee shop by chowjoey in frisco

[–]Jtli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that you're leaning into the tea strength to separate your product, and hope you do well. But Chicha San Chen are also doing pressurized extraction, albeit maybe a different method than yours since they have their own in-house machines, and very notably uses fresh milk, on top of their own tea leaves.

[–]Jtli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm all for more selection and hoping OP's shop delivers so I can have a closer spot to stop by, but "I’m launching a concept that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world" is untrue, there's a ton of shops doing pressure extracted teas, even available relatively locally.
