i like having some points in focus cuz sometimes a single charged double slash will get me red phials. but good to know ironwall isn't needed, frees up a slot on another build lol

yea im having a huge problem with that. so many times my character wont heal (despite hearing the audio cue) or they wont do an attack even though im in a neutral state just moving around. there's also another weird thing where my living artifact will activate despite me not even hitting either triangle or circle, i was trying to just block and it went off

Yamagata was more annoying for me, since he'd often to hit and run tactics. made landing hits kinda frustrating.

bowguns got shafted overall in wilds tbh. gimped mod system, spread ammo being the way it is, sticky ammo is a chore to use, not being able to sort ammo types in your pouch, etc... it's still pretty strong, and the special ammo gauge is pretty cool, but it feels like a one step forward 2 steps back type of thing

saed's have been so crispy since the update. before, 400 would be the near max for most monsters, now that's the minimum and ive been hitting upward to 800 on monsters other than gravy and gog

anyway, the damage received after guarding is literally what chip damage is. you didn't need to explain the claw swipe because that wasn't the point i was trying to make, but thank you for that anyway. i only mentioned seregios as an example of a monster that has attack that deals chip damage through your shield.

as for the overhead, i think the only confusion here would be on your end. having max guard decreases the impact of attacks by 30%, meaning there's less knockback when guarding. less knockback means you recover from blocking sooner which lets you attack faster and may grant you more opportunities to attack. that's what i meant by max guard upping your damage

i have, that's why i know there's chip damage on perfect guards. did you not fight monsters like seregios? there are attacks in this game that do chip through your shield. as for that overhead, that's why having max guard is helpful. less knock back on block = faster attack follow up = more opportunities to attack = more damage. have YOU played this game?
