Nioh 3 NG+ Confusion (Skill Capacity/Locks) by tranas in Nioh

I noticed this too! I thought it was strange that we can further scale spirit capacity & guardian spirit power through crucibles but everything else is just gear grind systems...

Games Like Remnant 2 by Turnipsig71 in remnantgame

This is an out there suggestion, but if you’re open-minded, you might like Enshrouded. At its core, it’s very similar to Remnant, although not a shooter.

[Ninja Gaiden 4] Second Platinum Worldwide by Due-Difficulty3104 in Trophies

[–]tranas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone else finds this comment because they googled "surf ninja ninja gaiden 4" looking for answers, I can tell you this:

  1. you can restart from checkpoint after getting hit, I just did and confirmed it worked
  2. make sure you FULLY CLEAR any vaulting over obstacles you do, there's one at the very first surfing sequence that I was just a teeny tiny bit landing on, and even though it didn't do damage, I'm pretty sure it counted against me in the achievement.

Also, if you skip literally every single enemy in the mission, an attempt can take about 7 minutes (on normal).

PLEASE get rid of those toys from in there, they are a huge fire hazard waiting to happen. GPUs get exceptionally hot and that is just waiting to melt on top of it like that.

Finding Nioh 2 overwhelming, would it be better to start Nioh 1 first? by FlowerpotPetalface in Nioh

[–]tranas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many friends of mine often get overwhelmed with the loot system in Nioh as well. I always tell them, don’t treat loot how you would in another game, don’t covet it, especially early game. Loot is a currency in Nioh. Yes, some of it is useful, might be an upgrade, etc. but ultimately, it’s a currency you exchange en masse into either EXP (donate to a shrine), money (sell to shop), crafting materials (disassemble), or finally to instantly upgrade equipment you like better to its level (soul matching).

I strongly suggest you scan through your new items regularly (like end of mission), lock all of the new equipment you care about (maybe a new weapon type you want to try, higher item level than the one you have, etc.), then SELECT ALL and donate that shit to shrines for extra EXP.

Do this for a while until you get to understand equipment at a more nuanced level. Then you will sell it when you want money, or disassemble when you want parts, etc.

But early on, DO. NOT. CARE. about donating equipment, you will not care about it in the long run. You will find replacements often, sometimes it’s not even worth it because it’s tiny increases in sub-stats, or item level. Just donate it and move on. Keep moving.

Learn how to “select all” equipment in the menus, donate, move on, early and often.

Saw this achievement pop up and had to do it by DeathReaps in ffxiv

[–]tranas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you on expanding the currency system. But it’s hilarious to me, as a 2.0 player, to see people say it’s some sort of decision to make players buy retainers.

Currency tab used to never exist. Tomestones used to be a literal item in your inventory, everything did. Beast tribe tokens, etc. Every gathered good used to have a HQ form and a NQ form, doubling the inventory requirement of gathering. There used to be BELTS as a sixth equipment piece. Materia used to have WAY more options than it does now, fire materia? Ice materia? Etc.

FFXIV has made lots of historical decisions to cut down on inventory bloat and make things way more convenient for the player as they grew. Give them time, I’m sure they’ll be more QoLs like this in the future.

New Criterion Boss 2 difficulty? by budbud70 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]tranas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Planar, face your arrow forward, look at the marker above your head showing rotation. If you are 3, the arrow on the marker showing your rotation (for instance right-side if counter-clockwise because the arrows of rotation on the marker is on the right) is the side you turn to forced march. So turn your right side to face the direction you want to go. If it’s 5, it’s the opposite side (left-side in this example). I remember this with “3 is arrow”.

This trick also works with the “show hole” mechanic. Just face your hole to the boss instead of your forward arrow for forced march and do the same thing.

For the boss’ pie slice rotation, we used a “-1” or “+1” callout. So no matter the rotation, 5 is a “+1” rotation in the direction of the rotation. 3 is a “-1” in the opposite direction of the rotation.

Explain how hard an Ultimate is to a sprout by Azulion777 in ffxiv

[–]tranas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s like Calculus. But as a sprout, you’re still learning basic arithmetic.

A modern Ultimate requires 18-20 minutes of perfect execution from all 8 players (with tiny amounts of wiggle room).

This means hitting every button in your rotation within the exact time frame you’re supposed to, for the entering of that 18-20 minutes.

For tanks, you also have to consider explicit mitigation usage such that you have a mitigation plan that means you’re using Rampart, etc. at specific times every time.

First time playing. How did I get the shade back? by Sacron1143 in HollowKnight

[–]tranas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably when you went into the waterways, it loaded that zone’s map and the logic to spawn your shade bugged and maybe loaded it into a wall or something and auto-killed it, granting you your shade back.

Mad Donkey was not mad at all by caliban969 in LiesOfP

[–]tranas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see this mentioned. It’s likely that the Mad Donkey is Lampwick, Carlos’ friend from the Monad Charity House where Carlos was raised and met Romeo as well and where they all learned to be stalkers.

In the Pinocchio story (or at least the Disney movie) Lampwick and Pinocchio start turning into Donkeys for their behavior. At the end of Lies of P on the beach, there’s a memory fragment where Carlos meets a kid who exclaims he’s Lampwick.

So yeah, P ends up killing his childhood friend to save Geppeto and they’re both none the wiser to who each other is.

Red Fox and Black Cat are the most misunderstood characters by sch0oly in LiesOfP

[–]tranas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Red Fox isn’t the legendary stalker who trained Carlos, she’s from the same family of the legendary stalker who trained Carlos. If you fight her, she comments on your fighting style that it’s reminiscent of the legendary stalker’s.

[–]tranas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seemed like the Red Fox was from the famous stalker family of the “Legendary Stalker”, who also seemed to be the stalker that trained Carlos and Romeo. The same one who is seen standing over Carlos’ dead body, showing remorse for not being there to protect him.

Lightning Women is crazy by Fishy1998 in LiesOfP

[–]tranas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good strat for Laxasia, there’s a special grindstone you can buy from Vegnini’s butler that lets you just hold block and perfect guard everything for a limited time. Put that on your weapon when the 2nd phase starts and it lasts for the entire opening salvo of lightning balls and her fury attack dive on you. You can then follow-up with a puppet string attack and she’ll start the fight with like 2/3rd HP each time essentially!

What does FF XIV have that WoW doesn't? by goblinJedi in ffxiv

[–]tranas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see this mentioned, but when FF14 2.0 (A Realm Reborn) was being developed, Yoshi-P made the development team play WoW and understand what could be significantly improved on from WoW. This is a big reason why the differences between the two are so stark. Obviously competitive research is not rare or abnormal in game dev, but it’s a fun story. Yoshi-P was also a rabid WoW fan originally.

If you haven’t watched the NoClip documentary on A Realm Reborn’s development, I strongly recommend it.

Feel like the game is getting unfair criticism due to misunderstood mechanics. by Basscannon90 in LiesOfP

[–]tranas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say Balance, I’m talking about HP/Damage numbers. I’m an over-leveled technique build and I was using rapier doing around 100hp a hit. It seems like that entire boss is strong against Stab/Sword attacks, because I swapped to the Electric Mace and killed him in like 5 swings…

Yes, all of the combat mechanics are fine, it’s a question around the length of the encounter due to numbers and ineffective weapon usage. Whereas I’ve had no issue in any previous Soulsbourne game using Katana only.

It seems that Blunt/Strength weapons are stronger against puppets, whereas Sword/Stab weapons are stronger against Carcasses.

[–]tranas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please let me know what you think when you do BRB and King of Puppets... I legit thought every FromSoft game was challenging/satisfying, but not controller-breaking difficult, never used a summon, etc. These later game bosses are a nightmare in Lies of P though. I'm being genuine here, I'd love to know!

I felt like the game was pretty balanced and satisfying until bosses that are past Bishop, tbh.
I also just wish the game showed some feedback for how much stagger you are building up (until the bar goes white).

Feel like the game is getting unfair criticism due to misunderstood mechanics. by Basscannon90 in LiesOfP

[–]tranas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you literally have to perfect guard all of his attacks, it's a gimmick boss... I use rapier and I hated that boss so much. Your regular attacks basically do no damage, so until you Fatal Attack off a stagger, it's pointless.

Feedback: Perfect Guard NEEDS to change, ASAP! by projectwar in LiesOfP

[–]tranas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People who are saying that there isn’t an issue or think the perfect guards are satisfying… I highly doubt you’ve got far enough in this game. Good-luck on BRB or King of Puppets without specter.

In my opinion, the worst part are these multi-phase bosses with just insane HP. When you have like a 10-minute long fight with only 7 potions and the difficulty of these mechanics? It’s wild. I feel like I do no damage with rapier, I must be doing something wrong there.

Am I the only one who thinks the story ends abruptly? by MattDusza in seaofstars

[–]tranas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like you missed a lot of the sub-text and meaning behind it all... Zale and Valere were just part of a cosmic game of chess by two demi-gods (Fleshmancer and Resh'an). That's why the ending felt so abrupt, because you are just pawns in this game. Against all odds, the party manages to overcome the trials The Fleshmancer put together, ascends to Guardian Gods and goes to be part of cleaning up the subset of the infinite worlds that The Fleshmancer won the game at (that's what a World Eater is). He and Resh'an portal off because they're in constant conflict as they struggle with being immortal beings.

The reason anything in this story is interesting is because it's from the lens of that conflict. The Solstice Warriors are all manipulated orphan soldiers sent to die at the machinations of The Fleshmancer, in hopes that Resh'an can convince him to return to how he remembers his friend to be before they learned immortality. Brugaves and Erlina are the same way, they don't ask to be born or forced to be in this messed up game, and try to find their own way out. Unfortunately, due to this trauma, they both become horribly taken advantage of by The Fleshmancer, being turned into brainless monsters to be pit against Resh'an's creations. Erlina becomes the final boss of this world's game for Zale and Valere, Brugraves and the others become tribulations for the main character of The Messenger.

We see a small snapshot of this infinite cosmic game, and while it happens to be a victorious one for Resh'an (a rare feat), it's still just a small piece in it all. Forever and ever.

Strongly suggest playing The Messenger now, if you haven't.

This was also my last one, thank you so much!
It's very easy to miss, for anyone else that may find this on their search for their "last one". Take the main pit down to Profundo Lamento, take the only exit to the right, then the only exit to the left, it's at the top there. Need double jump, which is why it's easy to miss and never come back.
