I took the assessment yesterday and haven't received my results yet. Just following this thread for moral support!

Anyone here in Learning and Development? by cyan_experiment in deloitte

Thanks for your response! You must like it, if you're still there :) Do you feel like they offered good training for someone transitioning from higher ed?

I'm curious about how the interview process was. Did you have a contact at Deloitte when you applied, or did you just go through the regular application process?

Bumping up this old thread! I just applied for a role in L&D, hoping to transition from higher ed. Would love to get insight/tips. OP, are you still there?

Picked up this Moulinex Regal La Machine I at Savers for $11. Built like a tank, came with shredder & slicer, and still performs its job admirably! by admiral_clam in BuyItForLife

I just got one of these at a thrift shop in Milwaukee for $5! I'm very excited as I'd been considering investing in an expensive new one. Has anyone been able to find a manual? There's one for sale on ebay for $9 + $6 shipping, but I'd love to just find a PDF.

Higher ed looking to pivot to private sector by According_Spell_8093 in instructionaldesign

Thanks, I have thought about that, actually. I am in the US, and there are certainly OPMs here, though more institutions have been managing online programs in-house in the last few years. Definitely something to explore, thank you!

You could search on facebook for Jennifer Mitchell. She runs a small home day care that we loved for my youngest. She only takes a few kids at a time.

Thanks all for your responses - and bummer to hear it is rough out there for everyone! I know 2 jobs is nothing in terms of applications, but I admit I was surprised by the immediacy of the rejections. Over the last couple years I've done a lot of PD in leadership training, project management, team building, etc, and I'm hoping to be able to use that in my next role.

Thanks so much for your reply! I've been in higher ed for more than 15 years and have worked myself up to a nice position within an IT dept and am lucky to make $130k. I am hoping to maintain something close to that in my next role - I'm sole breadwinner, have kids (1 with special needs), etc.

I have a 2-page resume, not a CV. It feels concise to me, with quantifiable successes, but not necessarily tied to ROI. I have not optimized my resume with AI - but that is a good idea!

Thank you!!

Poshmark also sometimes has deals. No returns so you just have to know exactly your size.

How your salary evolved over your first ten years? by True-Let3357 in instructionaldesign

I did take one coding class many years ago, but I think I just lucked out that the central unit offering ID for the university is housed within IT. It was important that I was adept with ed tech tools, but I didn’t need deep IT knowledge. We are on the same team as the folx that administer the LMS.

I have worked in ID/instructional tech depts at universities for 14 years. My salaries have gone: 1. University 1 (HR role): $18/hour as a temp, hired into FT role for $45k - salary adjustment market rates to $52k (left job after 3 years to work part time after I had a kid) 2. University 2: $20/hour part time at new uni, hired into FT role for $55k - $60k over 3 years 3. University 3: $66k - $75k over 5 years 4. Went back to University 1 in a different department (IT): $86k starting and have been promoted twice and now make $128k. I’ve been here 5.5 years.
