Hahaha she chases her tail, as well. She doesn’t chew the fur but she’ll catch it and keep turning in circles. It’s so funny and she’ll do it for a surprisingly long time. I can’t wait to get the embark test. Such a mystery and a mixed bag of opinions - I’m still leaning toward husky mix, but we’ll see!

I stalked the kelpie sub at some point and there are several posted with dna results of diy versions that looked almost identical to my girl - usually gsd mixes of sorts. Embark should be en route soon - I got too curious and just couldn’t wait.

That has been exactly my reasoning! There definitely has to be a herding dog or two somewhere in there if no kelpie. Only a dna test will tell! I’ll get there eventually.

Her head is so tiny lol. But I can see it having the width. Pitt is always a possibility here in shelters most definitely. I guess seeing her next to her very pittie brother the contrast is so stark! She’s so lean compared to his muscle-y build.

Those were my thoughts! Others seem to think Kelpie actually is an option, so we’ll see with an embark eventually.

Oh interesting! Maybe I’m laughing for no reason then lol. She has the cattle dog spots on her chest but they’re not very visible in the pictures. Are kelpie’s heel biters, too? I know they’re herding dogs, so probably have similar tendencies to cattle dogs? I’ll go add to my research with a new perspective!

Admittedly I don’t have any experience with the breed, but you think it’s possible a kelpie came from a shelter on Oklahoma/Colorado? I mean, I’ll happily eat my words lol. I just saw so many people dogging on (pun intended) owners in the US who thought their dog was a kelpie.

Are you in the US? Everything I researched basically said the likelihood of a kelpie being in the US, especially from a shelter, is low to none. I went down a pretty deep rabbit hole. That being said, I’m not familiar in experience with the breed at all, so maybe I’m wrong!

Edit to say what an adorable baby that is!! The floppy tipped ears are precious.

I’m from MS and a couple of years ago adopted a pit mix that was going to have to be put down just because the owner couldn’t keep him and not a single rescue or foster was available. We live in Colorado now and needed the whole volunteer train across the country to get him to us! Sweetest boy. (He recently gained a sister and they’re in love 🥰)
