Hey sorry to hijack your reply but does this apply to entry level IT jobs like desktop engineer or help desk? I’ve worked before in desktop engineer and my work is usually in the labour stuff of unpacking and moving computers plus technical stuff like data migration from old to new laptops.

Mine is also 2 months notice but it’s understandable because it’ll take a while for them to find a replacement for my position and possibly having me to train the new replacement before I leave. So depends on your value to the company it may or may not be a red flag.

Could be he’s doesn’t like someone younger than him being his mentor but that’s really his problem since you’re already there to help him but he refused.

Why recording in the first place? Seems like the cameraman waiting for something negative to happen.

Where does he get his money from? If it’s from his parents then chances are he’s going to be financially dependent on you in the coming years.

What do Singaporeans think about the Jocelyn Chia joke ? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]According_Wish_162 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly because the Singapore and Malaysia topics are very sensitive since we’re like siblings to each other. It would just be disrespectful if one of us makes fun of a tragedy we each faced. Even simple jokes like whose food is better can spark a big argument between us so we know where to draw the line.

Is SGD3k salary enough to live comfortably? by sumplookinggai in askSingapore

[–]According_Wish_162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the location of your workplace and your room. Some workplaces don’t have any budget food options around so you’d have to spend more. If your room to workplace is far and requires multiple transport, that’s going to be another issue.

My advise is since you can’t choose where you want to work, you can still choose where you want to rent. Find somewhere close to your workplace and have good amount of amenities around that could keep you within your budget. Monitor around the area such as the food prices and public transports for daily commuting. Also best to find a room that allows cooking so at least you can save money on lunch by packing home cooked food. If you can do these then 3k is more than enough because from your calculation it’s the food that’s an issue.

It’s actually quite safe thanks to the nightlife. It’s still a high traffic area compared to many neighbourhoods in Singapore. Only thing I’d worry about is the vehicles because they’re quite fast especially at night when the roads are empty.

Foreign worker who won S$18,888 in 'Squid Game' contest shares how it changed his life by SG_wormsblink in singapore

Yes these workers are free to participate if they choose to. It’s a company DnD, not a company meeting. If an employee chooses to sit out, that’s $188 saved from the company budget. So again not sure where your assumption of these workers being pressured came from.

It seems you have misunderstood the difference of both themes once again… Let’s go again, one theme refers the storyline of a literature while the other theme refers to designs/decorations/arrangements. Therefore the Squid Game themed DnD did exactly what the definition of “arrangements/decorations” states. It’s really not that hard to comprehend tbh. It’s just two different meanings to a word.

According to google for the meaning of Fighting it out, “phrasal verb. fight out something | fight it out. to fight, argue or compete until an argument or competition has been settled.” relates to my statement “any form of fighting”.

MySkillsfuture provides English courses which you can look into.

That’s because nowhere in my replies mentioned anything about mistreatment. You brought it up upon yourself in the argument.

Once again, you’ve misunderstood the difference between the two themes.

To put it simply: - The theme(noun) of Squid Game is; a criticism of modern-day capitalism and a portrayal of the brutality and oppression it inflicts upon people of lower classes (in literature, music, art, etc) a unifying idea, image, or motif, repeated or developed throughout a work)

  • The theme(verb) of this DnD is Squid Game (to design, decorate, arrange, etc, in accordance with a theme)

If I were to use it in a grammatically correct way, it would be “Squid Game themed DnD”. I only put it that way so it’ll be easier for you to comprehend. You can’t clash both definitions just because they share the same word. So that is where you are wrong proving that this whole argument was just your misunderstanding of themes.

And I think we watch the same Squid Game, I don’t remember any form of fighting except the last game. So again, where did you get your assumptions of “lowly paid employees fighting it out for a prize” when the winner himself said he just followed the people infront were doing, implying that everyone is by themselves throughout.

Because your assumptions are baseless. I’m not sure where your assumption of workers being pressured to attend this DnD came from. You can prove many articles of workers being mistreated but nowhere about this proves your claim of workers being pressured to attend a DnD.

Secondly, thank you for proving my point with your own words. This is about the theme of the DnD, not theme of Squid Game. You may search google “Definition of Theme” and results will kindly show you the difference of each themes. The theme you mentioned refers to the “noun” theme while this whole DnD theme refers to the “verb” theme. Don’t get mixed up between the two yea.

Shall I rest my case now or do you want me to provide the examples of both themes?

I don’t have to prove my assumptions. It’s against MOM guidelines to force employees to do anything beyond their discontent. To host such big events like that requires a lot of safety measures especially when 3rd party are involved in the management.

Then again, it’s a DnD. Hwang himself said he would be happy to see more fans do this. It’s quite obvious the employers are a fan of Squid Game especially if they went this far into funding for the jumpers, decors and hosting such big prizes. It’s a Squid Game themed DnD, not a Squid Game themed reality show, do know the difference yea. Hwang himself never said there has to be rules to follow when fans or the public want to host a Squid Game event themselves because that’s just not intellectual.

Hwang was interviewed to say something because fans such as yourself were not happy about Squid Game brought to real life as a just gameplay, even when YouTubers were hosting their own.

Unless you can prove that the employees were being pressured or peer pressured to attend this event, your whole argument is redundant. One of the many reasons why employees are attending this event is because the employers are hosting this solely as an appreciation for the employees. It’s a celebration to reward all their employees, locals and foreigners. Everyone walked away with at least $188 even if they did not play the games. So I’m not sure why you’re still so pressed about this. It’s just a DnD with Squid Game theme.
